For one prerecorded jewellery video, add OBS’s Media Source, choose the file and enable Loop. For a rotating set of product videos, add an OBS VLC Video source, load the files into its playlist and enable Loop Playlist. Then connect OBS to a stream created in YouTube Studio, check the preview and click Go live in YouTube’s Live Control Room.
Choose the right OBS source for your product videos

OBS documents Media Source support for common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM. For a playlist, review the VLC source’s visibility behavior: depending on its settings, hiding the source in a scene can stop playback, and making it visible again can restart it. Prepare the videos and clear the rights
- Put the files in a stable folder. Choose the final product clips and make sure OBS can access them throughout the broadcast. If you move or rename a file after selecting it, check the source path in OBS before going live.
- Check the footage and audio. Confirm that the shop has the necessary rights to the video, music, voiceover and any other material included. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility for those rights on the provider, including music rights; archived streams are covered too. YouTube Terms of Service
- Review product details in the frame. Check that the jewellery is visible and that any labels or claims shown are accurate. Test the scene framing before a public broadcast.
Set up a single looping video in OBS
- In OBS, select the scene where the product video should appear.
- In the Sources box, select + and choose Media Source.
- Name the source if prompted, then select the local video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties and confirm the selection.
- Check the OBS preview. Resize or position the source within the scene so the product is framed as intended.
Let the file reach its end during a private or otherwise safe test if practical: the video should restart rather than remain stopped. OBS’s Media Sources documentation lists supported formats and source controls. Read the OBS Media Sources guide.
Set up a playlist that loops multiple clips
- Install VLC. The VLC Video source appears in OBS only when VLC is installed. Match architectures: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, select the target scene. In Sources, click + and choose VLC Video.
- Add the product video files to the playlist and arrange them in the order you want viewers to see them.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a predictable sequence, or enable it only if a random order is suitable for the shop.
- Check the preview and, if you use multiple scenes, test what happens when the VLC source is hidden and shown again. Adjust the source’s visibility behavior if it would interrupt the intended rotation.
OBS describes Loop Playlist as specifying whether the source should restart when it has run out of media files. OBS: Media Sources

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Check channel access first. YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Its general eligibility page also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the shop’s account status and current access in YouTube Studio before planning the broadcast. - Create or select an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select a stream using an encoder.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the stream. Do not show it in screenshots or in the broadcast.
- Start OBS streaming. Start the encoder connection from OBS and wait for the incoming signal and preview in the Live Control Room.
- Review before broadcasting. Confirm that the correct scene and looping video appear, and that any intended audio is audible. When ready, click Go live in the Live Control Room. Starting OBS sends the feed; it does not by itself complete YouTube’s public-broadcast step.
- End the broadcast deliberately. End the stream in the Live Control Room and stop the encoder in OBS. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; check the current interface and settings for the particular stream. YouTube: Go live with an encoder
Test and monitor the broadcast
Prepare the encoder well ahead of the intended start and keep checking the audio and video while the stream runs. YouTube recommends setting up in advance and continuously monitoring the broadcast. An optional Ethernet cable is one way to connect the encoder computer to a router that supports a wired connection; YouTube’s cited guidance does not make Ethernet mandatory or promise a particular improvement. - Watch the Live Control Room preview for the correct product clip, framing and scene.
- Listen for intended audio and make sure unwanted desktop or microphone audio is not included.
- For a playlist, observe a clip change and confirm the sequence and loop behavior are what you expect.
- Keep the stream key private and verify the selected stream in YouTube Studio before starting the encoder.
Copyright and archived-stream checks
Having a file on the shop computer does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it. Check rights for each product clip, music track, voiceover and other embedded material. YouTube warns that archived live streams can receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends, so a clean live preview is not a guarantee that an archive will remain claim-free. Troubleshooting common loop and connection problems
