For a mostly static or gently animated visual, start with 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 over RTMPS, CBR at 14 Mbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. If your upload connection or encoder cannot sustain that reliably, try 720p30 at 8 Mbps instead. These are YouTube’s recommended encoder settings, not a guarantee that a particular connection will hold a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s live encoder settings were checked on October 3, 2026.
What are the best YouTube Live settings for music?
Use the following as a starting profile for a Marathi songs stream whose visual is an album image, lyrics card, or slow-moving background. YouTube automatically transcodes the incoming stream for playback on different devices and networks, but your outgoing feed still needs a stable connection and an encoder that supports the selected settings.
| Setting | Starting value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingestion. |
| Video codec | H.264, progressive | Use a codec supported by both your encoder and your workflow. YouTube also supports H.265/HEVC and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p30 | 30 fps is a practical editorial choice for a static or gently animated music visual; it is not a platform rule. |
| Rate control | CBR | Constant bitrate is part of YouTube’s live encoder guidance. |
| Video bitrate | 14 Mbps at 1080p30 H.264 | YouTube’s recommended bitrate for this profile. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 44.1 kHz, 128 Kbps | A suitable starting point for stereo music under YouTube’s advanced audio guidance. |
| SDR color | Rec. 709 | YouTube’s guidance for standard dynamic range. |
Settings and bitrate recommendations are from YouTube Help’s encoder guidance, checked October 3, 2026. Choose the highest quality your connection can sustain reliably rather than maximizing resolution at the expense of continuity.
Should you use 1080p30 or 720p30?
The main practical choice is between sharper artwork and a lower bitrate that is easier to sustain. YouTube recommends 14 Mbps video for 1080p30 H.264 and 8 Mbps for 720p30 H.264. These are video bitrate figures; allow additional bandwidth for audio and network overhead.

| Profile | YouTube recommended video bitrate | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 H.264 | 14 Mbps | Use when the visual benefits from more detail and your encoder and upload connection can hold the rate steadily. |
| 720p30 H.264 | 8 Mbps | Use when upload capacity is tighter or a more conservative profile is preferable for reliability. |
For music, 60 fps is usually unnecessary when the image barely moves. If you use fast animation or video footage, test it: motion may make a higher frame rate worthwhile, but it also changes encoder load and bandwidth needs. The final choice depends on your actual upload speed, shared network use, encoder, and visual design; those have not been measured for your channel.
How much upload speed does a 24/7 stream need?
YouTube advises leaving about 20% upload bandwidth headroom. Its guidance says total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends accounting for the primary stream, any backup, and headroom. Measure outbound upload speed, not download speed, and remember that other people and devices on the same connection can reduce what the encoder gets. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

- Run an upload-speed test from the location and connection that will carry the stream.
- Compare the measured upload capacity with the stream’s total bitrate, including audio, plus the headroom YouTube recommends.
- Test while normal household or studio network use is happening; a quiet test window may overstate capacity during the day.
- If the stream health is unstable, lower the resolution or bitrate, reduce competing network traffic, or use a more dependable connection before launching continuously.
A connection disruption can break a live stream. YouTube recommends testing with content similar to the real programme, monitoring stream health, and testing encoder failover instead of assuming it will work. For a continuous channel, define who checks incidents and how the broadcast restarts. YouTube’s event guidance suggests setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes early; for 24/7 operation, use that as preflight guidance rather than as a replacement for an ongoing monitoring plan. See streaming tips and live encoder guidance.
How should you configure the encoder and stream key?
- In YouTube Studio, check that the channel is eligible for live streaming, then create or open the live control room for the broadcast. Confirm the current stream-key and server details shown there; interface labels can change.
- In your encoder, select RTMPS and enter the server URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it in a video, screenshot, or public chat. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Set the video codec to H.264, progressive, and the target resolution and frame rate. Begin with 1080p30 if your upload and hardware support it, or 720p30 for a lower-bitrate profile.
- Set rate control to CBR, video bitrate to the corresponding YouTube recommendation, and keyframe interval to 2 seconds (never more than 4 seconds).
- Set stereo audio to AAC, 44.1 kHz, 128 Kbps. Use Rec. 709 if sending SDR video.
- Start a private or otherwise appropriate test broadcast, inspect the preview and stream-health indicators, listen for clipping or silence, and check the stream on a phone as well as a computer before relying on it.
YouTube permits software encoding and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events. A dedicated hardware encoder may suit an unattended setup, but the right device depends on the required resolution, codec, budget, and whether an existing computer can encode reliably. YouTube does not name a single best encoder.

Can you stream continuously and keep a complete archive?
A 24/7 stream is not a reliable way to create one complete YouTube replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube also warns that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. These limits mean a continuous broadcast can remain live while its full archive or rewind history is incomplete. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.
If replay completeness matters, split the broadcast into sessions shorter than 12 hours and record a local backup. YouTube recommends making a local archive backup and checking that archive files are usable. Account for local storage and the time needed to restart sessions; test the process before depending on it.

What music rights does a Marathi songs channel need?
Marathi-language music is subject to the same rights requirements as other music. YouTube’s livestream terms say the operator warrants having the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content on Google services, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Read the YouTube Livestream Terms and Conditions and verify the specific permissions for every song and visual in the programme.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn the streamer; if the content remains, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. If you have licensed third-party music, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

What does YouTube require before you go live?
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days; the person live streaming must be at least 16. Check your channel’s status and current requirements in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility instructions, checked October 3, 2026.
Before committing to an always-on schedule, test the full programme—not just a still image. YouTube recommends testing the encoder, monitoring stream health, checking the archive, and testing backup-encoder failover. Confirm that song transitions work, audio stays consistent, the visual does not freeze, and viewers can reach the stream from the channel and watch page.
How to keep a YouTube stream running: DIY or cloud?
A computer running an encoder can send a stream directly to YouTube, but its power, internet connection, and encoding process then become part of the channel’s continuity plan. YouTube does not prescribe a particular 24/7 operating method; the operator has to choose and test one.
Or let it run in the cloud
