Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchA full Azure VM disk does not prove that YouTube streaming caused the growth. First identify which volume is full and which files are using its space; remove only files you have confirmed are disposable. If cleanup is not enough, expand the Azure managed disk and then extend its volume in Windows—these are separate steps.
1. Identify the full disk and what is using the space
Before deleting anything, determine whether the affected volume is the Windows OS disk, an attached Azure managed data disk, or the VM’s temporary disk. Confirm the drive letter in the VM and inspect the largest folders and files on that volume. The streaming application and its configured log, cache, and temporary-file locations are not identified here, so do not assume a particular path or attribute growth to YouTube without evidence.
- Check the volume’s available space and identify its largest files and folders.
- Determine which disk backs the affected drive and whether it is managed storage or temporary storage.
- For files belonging to the streaming workload, identify the application and check its retention needs and configured paths before cleanup.
Microsoft’s Azure IaaS VM logs guidance describes files that may be collected for troubleshooting with customer consent. Its examples do not establish that those files are large, safe to delete, or responsible for a full disk. Treat it as a support-collection reference, not a deletion checklist.
2. Clear logs and temporary files only after checking them
Logs
Identify which application created a log, whether it is still active, and whether you need it for troubleshooting, auditing, or retention. Preserve logs that may explain an incident or be required by your organization. If a log is safe to remove or archive, use the application’s own retention or rotation controls where available; do not delete files just because they are called logs.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Temporary files
Confirm what created each temporary file and whether the application can regenerate it without interrupting the workload. The available guidance does not describe the streaming application’s temporary-file behavior, so its cache or working files cannot be presumed disposable. Do not remove files while a process may still be using them unless the application’s documentation supports that action.
Azure VM temporary disk
Azure’s temporary disk is separate from a managed disk. Microsoft describes it as short-term storage for applications and processes, with examples such as page files and SQL Server tempdb. On Windows it is drive D by default, but verify the VM configuration rather than assuming that letter. Data on this disk might be lost during maintenance, redeployment, or stopping the VM; Microsoft says it persists through a successful standard restart. See Microsoft’s managed-disk overview.

“Temporary” does not mean “safe to erase.” Establish what is stored there and whether the workload depends on it before cleaning it. Do not move persistent data there on the assumption that it behaves like a managed disk.
3. Expand the managed disk if cleanup is not enough
If the full volume needs more persistent capacity, Microsoft’s process has two distinct stages: resize the Azure managed disk, then extend the corresponding volume in Windows. The exact Azure operation depends on the VM, disk type, and feature eligibility; some resize procedures require deallocating the VM. Check the current configuration and Microsoft’s Windows VM disk-expansion guide before making a change. The documentation does not support a universal downtime claim for every configuration.

- Confirm the target. Match the full Windows drive to the correct Azure managed disk. Verify the disk and volume before changing capacity.
- Resize in Azure. Follow the guide’s instructions for that VM and disk type, including any required deallocation. Wait until Azure reports the new disk size.
- Extend the Windows volume. The extra disk capacity is not automatically usable by the existing volume. Extend the partition in Windows after the Azure resize completes.
- Verify. Confirm Windows shows the intended volume with the added capacity and check that the workload can write to it.
Microsoft’s Azure PowerShell tutorial demonstrates a Windows-side extension with Get-PartitionSupportedSize and Resize-Partition. Its example uses a selected drive and its supported maximum size; verify the drive letter and target volume before adapting or running commands. Do not run a resize command against a guessed drive.
Do not try to shrink a disk to reclaim capacity. Microsoft warns: “Shrinking an existing disk isn’t supported and might result in data loss.”

4. Troubleshoot the common failure points
| Symptom | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The disk is still full after deleting files | Confirm the files were on the full volume and check which remaining files or folders consume space. | Identify their owner and retention requirements before further cleanup; do not assume the streaming workload caused them. |
| The expected log or cache path is not present | The application and its configured storage locations are unknown until you identify them. | Check that application’s configuration and documentation rather than deleting files from unrelated Azure system locations. |
| Drive D contains files you thought were disposable | Verify that D is the VM temporary disk and identify what uses its contents. | Do not erase data the workload needs. Temporary-disk contents can be lost during some VM lifecycle events. |
| Azure shows a larger disk, but Windows still shows the old volume size | Azure disk resizing and Windows volume expansion are separate operations. | Extend the correct Windows partition after the Azure resize; confirm the selected drive before using PowerShell. |
| The Azure resize operation is unavailable or requires a VM state change | Check the VM configuration, disk type, and eligibility conditions in Microsoft’s expansion guide. | Follow the procedure for that configuration. Do not assume every resize has the same downtime requirement. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the disk problem is part of keeping a YouTube channel live around the clock, a cloud streaming service can avoid leaving a home computer running. StreamNeo streams uploaded videos to YouTube: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud loops the video, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on.
