To broadcast recordings as a live event, you need an external playback source and an encoder to send that playback to YouTube.
What YouTube Live does—and does not—automate
YouTube’s live-streaming workflow is built around an incoming feed: create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio, copy its stream URL and key into an encoder, configure the encoder, then start sending the feed. The encoder—software or hardware—is what turns a selected source into the live video YouTube receives.
YouTube’s documented workflow does not offer a setting to select an existing YouTube playlist of recorded lectures as the live-stream input or to advance through its videos automatically. Scheduling a live stream creates an upcoming event; it does not make YouTube play recordings. YouTube describes live streaming as a way to interact with an audience in real time through a video feed, chat, and more.
What you need to broadcast recorded lectures as a live stream
For a recorded lecture playlist to appear as a live broadcast, an external playback source must play the recordings and an encoder must transmit that playback to YouTube as a live feed. YouTube’s guidance establishes the encoder-based connection, but does not prescribe a particular playlist application or confirm that any specific encoder can automate playback across a playlist. Check the chosen playback and encoder software’s own documentation for playlist sequencing and unattended operation before relying on it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the distinction clear: automating when a stream starts or stops is not the same as automating which recordings play or moving from one lecture to the next.
Scheduling and auto-start do not play the playlist
YouTube’s encoder settings include auto-start and auto-stop controls. These concern starting or stopping the stream connection; they do not select recordings or establish automatic playback through a YouTube playlist. Likewise, scheduling an event sets up its timing, not a playback queue. For a scheduled broadcast, YouTube’s workflow has the creator start the encoder and use Live Control Room to preview and start the event.

Plan around live-stream archiving
YouTube says live streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a lecture broadcast will run for an extended period, check YouTube’s current live-stream archive guidance and keep a local recording when an archive matters.
