You can use an iPhone, iPad, or Mac as a teleprompter by opening a teleprompter app, loading your script, and setting readable text and a comfortable scroll speed. Put the display near your camera so you can read without looking far away. For a simple setup, use the device you are recording with; for larger text or a Mac-based call, put the script on a second screen.
Choose the setup that fits your recording
| Setup | Best fit | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone displays the script | Portable, single-device recording | Some teleprompter apps can scroll text and record with the iPhone camera. The smaller screen may call for larger text or a closer viewing position. |
| iPad displays the script | More room for text beside or below a camera | Check whether the app supports full-screen display, an external display, or mirrored text if your physical rig needs it. |
| Mac displays the script | Desk-based recording, presentations, and calls | Use a teleprompter app or position a script window near the camera. App features such as overlays and multiple windows vary. |
| iPhone is the Mac webcam; another screen displays the script | Using the iPhone camera with a Mac recording or call | Continuity Camera connects the iPhone camera or microphone to compatible Mac apps; it does not scroll a script. |
These are practical setup choices, not measured performance rankings. A teleprompter app supplies the script and scrolling; Apple’s Continuity features connect devices or displays but do not replace the app.
Set up a teleprompter on one device
- Choose the screen. Use an iPhone for a compact setup, an iPad when you want more display area, or a Mac for desk-based work.
- Open a teleprompter app and add your script. Paste or import the text. App listings describe features such as script editing, text-size controls, scrolling, and, depending on the app and plan, recording, mirroring, or external control. Check the app’s current listing for the features and operating-system requirements you need.
- Place the screen close to the lens. The closer the prompt is to the camera, the less your eyes need to move between the text and the lens. If you are using an iPhone as a Mac webcam, mount it securely with its rear camera facing you; Apple recommends landscape orientation for automatic selection by apps.
- Adjust the text and pace. Increase the font until it is comfortable to read from your intended position. Set a scroll speed that lets you speak naturally, then rehearse a short section. There is no single best font size or speed for every screen, distance, or reader.
- Record or start the call. Start the app’s recording or your chosen camera or meeting app. Use the on-screen controls or a compatible remote if you need to pause or adjust scrolling while speaking.
Use an iPhone as a Mac webcam while reading a script
Apple’s Continuity Camera lets you use an iPhone as a Mac computer’s webcam or microphone. The script can remain on the Mac display or another screen; Continuity Camera does not provide teleprompter text or scrolling.
- Mount the iPhone stably with its rear camera facing you. Apple recommends landscape orientation for automatic camera selection.
- Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on, both devices use the same Apple Account, and they are within 10 meters of each other. A wired USB connection is also supported.
- In the Mac app you are using, select the iPhone as the camera or microphone if the app offers that choice.
- Open the teleprompter app or script window separately and position it as close to the camera as practical. Check the recording preview and make sure the script does not cover controls you need.
Apple’s current requirements page specifies iOS 16 or later and iPhone XR or later for Continuity Camera, plus macOS Ventura 13 or later on the Mac. These requirements apply to Continuity Camera, not to every teleprompter app.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Use an iPad as a second screen for a Mac script
Sidecar can extend or mirror a Mac desktop to an iPad, which may let you place a Mac app window on the iPad. Sidecar is a display feature, not a teleprompter: the script still needs to come from an app or document that provides the text and scrolling.
- Connect the iPad to the Mac using Sidecar, then choose whether to extend or mirror the desktop for your setup.
- Move the script window to the iPad if using an extended desktop, or arrange it on the mirrored display.
- Keep the text near the camera’s position and rehearse while checking that the chosen display arrangement remains readable from your recording position.
Apple’s Continuity guide describes Sidecar and notes that some Continuity features have separate system requirements. Check Apple’s current compatibility guidance for your devices and software versions.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Know when to mirror text or use a remote
Mirroring
Mirrored or reversed text is for a physical teleprompter rig that reflects text through a beam splitter. For ordinary reading from a phone or tablet screen, leave mirroring off. If you have a rig, verify its orientation requirements before recording.
Remotes and foot pedals
A Bluetooth keyboard, clicker, controller, foot pedal, or another Apple device may control scrolling in some apps. Compatibility and connection methods vary by app and device, so confirm support in the app listing before buying a specific remote.

Recording, captions, and exports
Some apps offer built-in video recording, external-display controls, script export, or captions; availability may depend on the app and plan. Check the current App Store listing and plan details rather than assuming these capabilities are built in to Apple’s Camera app or Continuity Camera.
Do not confuse iPhone Mirroring with Continuity Camera
Continuity Camera makes an iPhone camera or microphone available to a compatible Mac app. iPhone Mirroring lets you interact with an iPhone from a Mac where the feature is supported. Neither feature supplies teleprompter scrolling, and iPhone Mirroring is not required for ordinary prompting.

Apple’s requirements page lists iOS 18 or later and macOS Sequoia 15 or later for iPhone Mirroring, with a Mac that has Apple silicon or the T2 Security Chip. Apple also says availability is limited by region and that iPhone Mirroring is not currently available in the European Union. Check Apple’s current page before relying on it.

- Your eyes keep drifting away from the lens: Move the script display closer to the camera, or reposition the camera closer to the line of text you are reading.
- You lose your place or rush the words: Increase the text size, reduce the scroll speed, and rehearse using the final device position before recording.
- The prompt text is reversed: Turn off mirror mode for normal screen reading. Turn it on only if your physical rig needs reflected text.
- A remote will not control scrolling: Check that the selected app supports that remote and its connection method. Remote support is not universal.
- The iPhone does not appear as a Mac camera: Check the Continuity Camera requirements and setup: compatible devices and software, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, the same Apple Account, nearby devices, and a stable iPhone mount. Try wired USB if appropriate.
- The iPad does not show the Mac script: Confirm Sidecar is supported and connected, then check whether the Mac desktop is extended or mirrored and where the script window is placed.
