For distinct Hindi and Tamil programming, use a separate YouTube channel for each language and create playlists inside the matching channel. One Google Account can manage both, but only the channel currently selected is active—so check its name and icon before uploading or editing. You can keep the channels under one login while giving each language its own publishing identity and playlist rotation.
Choose between separate channels and one channel with language playlists
Separate channels suit programming intended for distinct language audiences or publishing identities. Within each channel, use playlists to organize series, topics, or recurring rotations. If the two languages belong to one shared channel identity, language-specific playlists on that channel may be simpler to manage. YouTube’s tools provide the channel and playlist controls; they do not establish that either structure will perform better.
Before splitting existing content, consider the consequences: YouTube says separate channels cannot be merged or linked, and data cannot be transferred automatically. Re-uploaded videos on another channel start with new watch time and other metrics for those uploads. See YouTube’s channel merge guidance.
Set up or choose the Hindi and Tamil channels
- Create or select each channel. Use a personal channel managed by its owner, or a channel with a business or other name that can be associated with a Brand Account and managed by more than one owner or manager. See YouTube’s channel creation instructions.
- Switch to the channel you want to work on. In YouTube, select your profile picture, choose Switch account, then choose the Hindi or Tamil channel. Confirm the displayed name and icon before proceeding. A Google Account can manage up to 100 channels, according to YouTube Help.
- If a channel is missing, check access. YouTube advises switching in Studio or confirming that your Google Account is listed as a manager of the relevant Brand Account.
Channel switching determines where your next channel-level action happens. Do not assume that opening YouTube with the right Google login means the right language channel is selected.

Create a playlist in the selected channel
- Open YouTube Studio on a computer and verify the active channel name and icon.
- Select CREATE → New playlist.
- Enter a clear title and description, then choose the playlist visibility and video arrangement.
- Add the videos for that language rotation and create the playlist.
You can find the desktop workflow and playlist fields in YouTube’s playlist management guide. The title limit is 150 characters and the description limit is 5,000 characters.
Maintain each rotation in YouTube Studio
- In Studio, open Content → Playlists while the intended language channel is active.
- Open the playlist details to edit its title, description, visibility, or language fields.
- On YouTube, reorder items by dragging them into the desired sequence.
- Add videos from search, a URL, or your video library; share the playlist or add collaborators where appropriate.
- For translated playlist titles or descriptions, use the Languages controls if available to your account; YouTube may require verification.
For quick handoffs between editors, use unmistakable names such as “Hindi – [series or topic]” and “Tamil – [series or topic]”. These naming conventions are organizational suggestions, not YouTube requirements.

Make a playlist change from the Android Studio app
In the YouTube Studio app on Android, open Content, use the options beside a video to edit it, select or deselect playlists, then save. Playlist settings—including title, description, visibility, and order—are also available from the Playlists tab. Refer to YouTube’s Android playlist instructions.
Visibility and playlist limits to account for
- The You tab can list public, private, and unlisted playlists. Choose visibility based on whether viewers should find and open the rotation.
- YouTube’s desktop help says up to 5,000 videos can be displayed in a playlist.
- YouTube documents a daily limit on creating public playlists across YouTube, YouTube Music, and the API, but the cited help page does not give a fixed number. Advanced-feature access may increase the limit.
- A made-for-kids video or channel cannot be added to a playlist from a homepage, although content may still be added from search results.
