Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can use FFmpeg to loop devotional recordings into a YouTube Live stream, but a genuinely 24/7 channel takes more than one looping command: the channel must be eligible for live streaming, the music and recordings must be cleared for use, the encoder needs supervision and recovery plans, and YouTube’s archive behavior means you should manage sessions rather than promise one broadcast will run forever. This guide walks through a rights-conscious setup and its limits.
What “24/7” means on YouTube Live
A 24/7 channel means viewers can find a live devotional-music presence around the clock. It does not establish that one YouTube Live event can remain open indefinitely. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so build session endings, restarts and archive handling into your operating plan. The available guidance does not establish that a single event can continue forever.
FFmpeg can loop input indefinitely with -stream_loop -1. That keeps repeating the input while the process is running; it does not prevent a computer, server, network connection, encoder or YouTube session from failing. Treat looping, transport recovery and session management as separate jobs.
Check eligibility and music rights before you schedule
Enable live streaming early
- Verify your YouTube channel and check YouTube Studio for any current live-stream restrictions. YouTube’s eligibility guidance calls for no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable the feature in advance. YouTube says initial live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Do not announce a launch date until live streaming is enabled and you have tested the channel’s access to Live Control Room.
Clear both the recording and the song
A song being Tamil, devotional, traditional or old does not by itself establish that a particular recording is free to stream. Rights may apply separately to the sound recording, the composition, an arrangement and a performance. Obtain permissions that cover the specific tracks, territories and uses you intend, including live streaming and archiving where applicable.

YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If a match is detected, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt or terminate the stream, or apply a strike depending on the circumstances. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption: ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, and confirm that the allowlisting is in place before launch. Archived live streams may also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends.
- Keep written permission and a track-by-track record of what it covers.
- Ask the label, distributor or other rights owner about Content ID allowlisting for your channel.
- Use only visuals you are authorized to stream as well; music clearance does not automatically clear accompanying artwork or video.
- Do not assume that a track is cleared merely because it is available online or because another channel has streamed it.
Prepare the program and the FFmpeg host
Organize a reliable source
Prepare the exact audio and any visuals you have permission to use. You can make a continuous program file or use a playlist workflow, but the files, codecs and transitions need to work with your FFmpeg build and the output accepted by YouTube. The documentation for -stream_loop establishes an input-looping feature; it does not validate a complete command or media library for your channel.

Rehearse with the actual source files before going public. Check that audio and video streams are present as expected, that transitions and file boundaries do not create timestamp or playback problems, and that the host can sustain the workload. A command that loops one file is not, by itself, a complete playlist scheduler.
Use a supervised machine and protect the key
FFmpeg runs on the machine where you start it. For a self-hosted stream to stay available while you are away, that host and its network connection must remain available, and someone or something must be able to detect a stopped process and respond. YouTube’s guidance does not specify a server size, bandwidth target or universal encoding profile for this particular channel, so do not treat any generic hardware or bitrate figure as a guarantee.

Connect FFmpeg to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and open Live Control Room.
- Copy the current ingest URL and stream key shown there. Keep the key private: do not publish it in a script repository, screenshot, public log or stream description. Store it in a protected configuration or secret store.
- Build the FFmpeg output target from the current ingest details, following the format presented for your stream. Do not reuse a key from an old broadcast without checking that it is still the intended key.
- Start FFmpeg and watch the Live Control Room preview and status. Confirm that the incoming picture and sound are correct before making the stream public or telling viewers to tune in.
Loop a prepared input
This command illustrates the loop option on one prepared file. It is not a universal, validated YouTube command: use only if the file’s existing streams can be passed through in the required output container and format, and adapt the output target to your current YouTube ingest details.
ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i "prepared-program.mp4" -c copy -f flv "$YOUTUBE_RTMP_TARGET"
Here, -stream_loop -1 repeats the input indefinitely, -re reads it at its native rate, -i selects the prepared source, and -c copy attempts to pass its streams through without re-encoding. If that input cannot be copied in a form YouTube accepts, this example will not be sufficient: choose compatible output codecs and encoding settings for your media and current YouTube ingest configuration, then rehearse again. No single bitrate, resolution or encoding profile is established here as right for every Tamil devotional program.

The environment variable is a placeholder for a protected output target, not a stream key to paste into a public script. Be alert to the possibility that command arguments can be visible to other users or captured in logs on a shared machine. Use an appropriately protected configuration method for your host.

Recover from network interruptions
FFmpeg documents an RTMP FIFO muxer example that processes at real-time rate and attempts recovery every second after temporary network failures. That is a documented building block, not a promise that a specific command will recover from every fault or keep a broadcast uninterrupted. Host failure, longer outages, YouTube interruptions, rights actions and session endings still need separate handling.

For a production channel, supervise the FFmpeg process and alert someone when it exits or when Live Control Room reports a problem. Test recovery by rehearsing with the real files, FFmpeg build and ingest setup. Confirm what happens after a restart rather than assuming the process will automatically resume the intended event.
Manage YouTube sessions and archives
Because YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, plan when to end and restart a live session and decide how to review, retain or remove the resulting archives. Check the live dashboard for warnings and strikes. Your schedule should account for the session boundary; a file loop alone cannot manage it.
YouTube’s getting-started guidance reports limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. These limits matter if you operate several simultaneous feeds; a single devotional stream is less likely to need that capacity.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | What to check | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| Live Control Room does not show an incoming feed. | Confirm live streaming is enabled, the correct current ingest URL and key are being used, and FFmpeg is still running. | Check the channel’s eligibility and restrictions, then re-copy the current ingest details and restart the encoder. Never reveal the key while troubleshooting. |
| The preview appears, but the picture or sound is missing or wrong. | Inspect the actual input file and confirm it contains the streams you expect. Check the output format and whether stream copy is suitable for that file. | Test the same media privately and adjust the output to match the media and YouTube’s current ingest requirements. Do not assume a command that works for one file will work for every track. |
| The broadcast stops after a network or host interruption. | Check host availability, network stability, FFmpeg process status and Live Control Room status. | Use process supervision and alerting; rehearse a restart and, where appropriate, test FFmpeg’s documented RTMP FIFO recovery approach. Neither guarantees recovery from every fault. |
| YouTube warns, interrupts or terminates the live stream. | Review Live Control Room notifications and the rights status of the matching material. | Pause or remove disputed material, resolve the rights issue with the relevant owner, and confirm Content ID allowlisting where licensed content is involved. A license alone may not stop a live interruption. |
| A broadcast ends or creates an archive unexpectedly. | Check the event’s elapsed time and YouTube’s archive behavior for streams under 12 hours. | Plan controlled session endings and restarts, and review the archive policy before launch. |
| A loop breaks or has a glitch at a file boundary. | Reproduce it in a rehearsal using the same FFmpeg build and exact media. | Prepare a source with compatible streams and clean transitions, then test it under the expected continuous workload before using it live. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not operate a home or server-based encoder, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. It loops the uploaded material from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams to YouTube, not from a live camera.
