1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo repeat a 10-hour meditation video in OBS, add it to a scene as a Media Source, select the local video file, and enable Loop in the source’s properties. Connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream with its server URL and stream key, check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room, then start the event. Test the full setup ahead of time: the settings enable looping, but they cannot guarantee that a computer, OBS, or an internet connection will run without interruption for ten hours.
Before you start
- A local video file: Keep the recording accessible on the computer running OBS. OBS lists formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM for Media Source. Its guide does not specify a maximum duration or file size, so test your particular 10-hour file.
- A YouTube encoder stream: In YouTube Studio, create or select an encoder stream and retrieve its server URL and stream key from Live Control Room.
- Rights to the content: Use audio and visuals you are authorized to stream. YouTube’s live streaming settings guidance says content must not infringe others’ rights and must comply with Community Guidelines.
OBS describes scenes and sources as the building blocks of a stream. For one video, its built-in Media Source is the simplest option; a playlist source is only needed if you want to rotate between files.
Set up the repeating video in OBS
- Add a Media Source. In the Sources dock, click the add button, choose Media Source, name it if prompted, and select the local video file in its properties. Confirm the source is visible in the scene preview.
- Enable the correct repeat setting. In Media Source properties, check Loop. OBS defines this as replaying the file when playback completes. Do not confuse it with Restart playback when source becomes active: that setting restarts playback when the source is in the current scene and visible; it is not the end-of-file looping control. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
- Fit the image to the scene. If the picture is too large, too small, or cropped, use the source transform options to fit, stretch, center, or crop it. Preserve the video’s aspect ratio when you do not want it distorted.
- Check the audio. Play the source and watch the OBS audio mixer. Listen for the opening, ending, and loop transition so you can catch silence, clipping, or an unexpected gap before starting a public stream.
Media Source or VLC Video?
| Option | Best for | Repeat control | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Media Source | One local video | Loop repeats that file | Built into OBS; no separate VLC installation for this workflow |
| VLC Video | A list of media files | Loop Playlist restarts when the list finishes | VLC must be installed. OBS says 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. |
For a single meditation recording, Media Source avoids an extra dependency and playlist management. Choose VLC Video if you specifically need a playlist that cycles through multiple files. OBS documents both source types in its Media Sources guide.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Get the encoder details. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select an encoder stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Enter them in OBS. Open OBS streaming settings, select YouTube if available, and enter or select the matching server URL and stream key. The exact arrangement of controls can vary with OBS version and connection method; use the URL and key belonging to the same YouTube stream.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password. YouTube describes it as the stream’s password and address; if it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before using the stream again.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start streaming in OBS and confirm the feed appears in YouTube Live Control Room. Check both picture and sound there before starting the event in YouTube. YouTube recommends testing and checking the preview before going live; see its encoder streaming guidance.
- Monitor the live output. Keep an eye on YouTube’s preview and OBS while the stream runs. YouTube recommends leaving upload-bandwidth headroom: its streaming tips recommend 20% beyond the stream bitrate. That is a recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular connection will remain stable.
Test the full 10-hour run and end it deliberately
Before scheduling the meditation stream, run a test with the same video, scene, audio, and connection. Verify that the file loops, the transition is acceptable, and the YouTube preview receives both video and sound. A short test can catch setup errors, but it cannot prove that a computer or network will stay reliable for ten hours. OBS and YouTube documentation describe configuration and preflight practices, not uninterrupted operation for every file and system.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube’s encoder streaming guide states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 10-hour stream is below that stated duration threshold, but this does not ensure the encoder will stay connected or that a particular stream will archive successfully if interrupted. Platform guidance can change.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The video stops after one play: Open the Media Source properties and check Loop. Restart playback when source becomes active is not a substitute; it concerns a source becoming visible in the scene.
- VLC Video is missing: Install VLC and match its architecture to OBS. OBS requires 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. If you only need one file to repeat, switch to Media Source instead.
- The video is framed incorrectly: Select the source and use OBS transform controls to fit or crop it within the scene. Avoid stretching if that would distort the footage.
- YouTube preview does not appear or keeps dropping: Confirm OBS is sending, then verify that the server URL and stream key match the selected YouTube stream. Check available upload bandwidth; YouTube recommends 20% headroom over the stream bitrate.
- Audio or picture fails during the long stream: Test the actual file and monitor both OBS and YouTube’s live preview. Check the local playback, source visibility, audio mixer, encoder status, and connection rather than assuming the loop setting can prevent system or network failures.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded videos without leaving OBS and your computer running at home, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed.
