Restream can schedule a finite prerecorded YouTube broadcast, including a looped event of up to 40 hours, but the documented limits do not establish a dependable, unattended 24/7 channel. Its video loop is capped at 10 repetitions, playlists do not loop automatically, and YouTube archives only streams under 12 hours. Treat Restream as a way to run a scheduled broadcast—not as a guarantee of uninterrupted, indefinite coverage.
What Restream’s 24-hour support does—and does not—mean
Restream’s prerecorded-event feature can start at its scheduled time even if you are offline. Its help center explicitly describes “Streaming for 24 hours” as a use case for the video-loop feature. The loop can run for up to 40 hours, subject to the loop limit of 10 repetitions and the selected plan’s feature availability. That makes a finite 24-hour event within the documented ceiling if the video duration and repetitions fit.
A finite event is not the same as a channel that stays live indefinitely. The available documentation does not establish an automatic handoff that schedules a new event when one ends, or a guarantee that the Restream-to-YouTube connection will remain uninterrupted. Restream’s playlist feature can contain up to 40 videos, including repeated entries, but playlists themselves do not loop. Repeating entries therefore makes a longer finite sequence, not a self-renewing broadcast. Restream’s loop instructions describe these limits.
What can interrupt continuity or affect the replay
Event duration and looping
Before scheduling, calculate the total runtime of the file or playlist and how many repetitions are needed. Check that the intended event remains within the 40-hour loop maximum and the 10-loop cap, and confirm that looping is included in your current plan. Restream’s event article lists Premier, Marathon, and Media storage tiers and their respective library durations and maximum resolutions; plan entitlements can change, so verify them in your account before relying on a feature. YouTube archives
Restream’s YouTube guide says that YouTube does not impose a stream-duration limit, but archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. A longer broadcast may run without producing one complete YouTube replay. If retaining a full archive matters, plan for a separate recording or a shorter event; do not assume YouTube will preserve the whole 24-hour stream as a single archive. Service availability
Restream’s public status page displayed 99.98% uptime for Studio when checked in 2026. That is a point-in-time status-page figure, not an end-to-end reliability measurement for scheduled prerecorded events delivered to YouTube, and it is not a service-level guarantee for this use. Restream’s terms also allow for scheduled maintenance and unscheduled interruptions and disclaim uninterrupted or error-free service. Neither source proves that a particular music channel will stay live continuously. Check Restream’s current status page before a scheduled event and read the Restream terms for service limitations.

Prepare a prerecorded music event
Check the video file
Restream lists MP4, MOV, M4V, and MKV containers, with H.264 video, AAC audio, and keyframe interval 2 as requirements. It recommends 1080p and suggests adding 15–20 seconds at the start and end so destination platforms have time to process the incoming stream. Validate the actual export against its current prerecorded-video requirements before uploading.
Verify the YouTube channel and event
- Confirm that the YouTube channel is owned by the account holder connecting it, and that live streaming is enabled. Restream says a first-time YouTube streamer must complete phone verification and wait 24 hours after enabling live streaming. Check the channel’s live-streaming status directly before launch.
- In Restream, create a prerecorded event and set its scheduled start time, destination, and video. Confirm that the selected plan supports the storage and looping options you intend to use.
- Calculate the event’s full runtime, including repeats. Check it against the 40-hour maximum and no more than 10 video loops; for a playlist, remember that it will end rather than loop.
- Run a test broadcast with the actual file and destination settings. Confirm that audio and video play as expected and that the event starts at the scheduled time. This is a practical precaution, not a guarantee of future uptime.
- Decide how you will preserve the music and video independently. Restream says its cloud storage is not a replacement for a hard drive or other backup, so keep an original copy of every asset.
