You can broadcast a recorded music theory course continuously on YouTube Live by sending its video and audio through an encoder, then testing that playback repeats and recovers as intended. First enable livestreaming on a verified, unrestricted channel; create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio; configure a computer or cloud service to play the course; and verify the feed in the Live Control Room before sharing it. Plan a separate archive: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no livestreaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Confirm the channel’s status in YouTube Studio.
  • An encoder setup that can send the recorded course to YouTube. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; a prepared recorded feed is a good fit for this route.
  • A reliable upload connection, the course file or playlist, and permission to livestream all included material.
  • A separate plan for keeping a replay or archive if you need one.

YouTube for Artists advises enabling a first livestream at least 24 hours before the planned broadcast. Treat that as useful lead time, not a substitute for checking your own channel’s current status. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming and YouTube for Artists: Going Live for Music Channels.

Create the YouTube stream

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
  2. Create a stream or schedule one. Choose the visibility and other details appropriate for your test or public broadcast.
  3. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the encoder connection. Enter them in your encoder. Keep the key private: someone with it may be able to send a feed to the configured stream.
  4. Start the encoder feed and wait for the preview in the Live Control Room. For a scheduled broadcast, check the preview and select Go live in the Live Control Room when ready.

YouTube’s encoder guide explains the connection process: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Configure and test the recorded course feed

Set up playback and looping

Configure your encoder and playback arrangement to send the intended course recording or playlist. YouTube’s setup guidance describes connecting an encoder; it does not guarantee a particular looping method or make a prerecorded file repeat automatically. Set the playback behavior explicitly, then test what happens when the file reaches its end, when the encoder stops, and after a restart or network interruption.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Use an unlisted test stream before announcing the broadcast. Check that the course begins at the right point, transitions between lessons or chapters cleanly, and resumes in the way you expect. Watch the Live Control Room preview and monitor stream health while the test runs. YouTube for Artists also recommends testing an unlisted stream: Going Live for Music Channels.

Choose stable video and audio settings

Use settings your computer and upload connection can sustain continuously. Test upload speed and the actual feed rather than assuming a brief speed check proves 24/7 stability. YouTube transcodes incoming video for viewers on different devices, so the encoder’s outgoing settings should be stable and suitable for the source.

For 1080p at 30 fps, YouTube lists recommended video bitrates of 10 Mbps for AV1 or H.265 and 14 Mbps for H.264. Its encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a specific computer or connection can maintain them. Check YouTube’s current settings guidance before launch: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

  • Check the Live Control Room preview for a clean picture and stable audio.
  • View the course on a phone-sized screen: notation, diagrams, and slide text should remain readable.
  • Listen to narration and musical examples, including at transitions between lessons.
  • Monitor stream health during the test and during the live run; fix recurring warnings before relying on the feed.

Choose a setup that can stay on

Run an encoder locally

A software encoder on a computer gives you direct control over playback and the outgoing feed, but the computer, playback process, encoder, power, and internet connection must remain available. Configure and test the restart and end-of-file behavior yourself. Keep a local master recording as a backup. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required; choose the method that fits the use case rather than buying hardware by default. YouTube Help: Live streaming tips.

Use a hosted cloud service

A hosted service can play uploaded material without requiring your home computer to remain on. Compare options on whether they support the course file and repeat behavior you need, how you monitor the feed, what happens after an interruption, how much control you have over quality, and the ongoing cost. YouTube’s encoder documentation includes a browser-based 24/7 cloud service, but it does not establish a vendor comparison or guarantee another service’s capabilities. Verify any provider’s current features and test the complete broadcast before depending on it.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live. Upload the course recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. StreamNeo includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for plan details, then start the free first day.

Plan for playback, archives, and course access

A 24-hour live run may not produce a complete replay

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers that one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will create a complete replay. Keep a local archive recording, publish the course separately as an on-demand video, or use shorter sessions with a deliberate restart and archive workflow. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

Make the course easy to follow

Continuous playback is not the same as a structured course experience. Give viewers clear lesson titles and explain where the current broadcast sits in the course. Test chapter transitions and make sure the stream does not leave viewers with a blank or confusing screen between recordings. If viewers need to start at lesson one or revisit a specific topic, a separate on-demand course video can be more useful than relying on the live feed’s position.

Clear rights before broadcasting

You are responsible for having the necessary rights to livestream everything in the course. Check the rights for full music recordings, short song excerpts, sheet music, backing tracks, images, and contributions from students or guests. Educational context alone does not establish permission; the applicable rights depend on the material, territories, and permissions you have.

YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. A detected match may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or lead to termination. Even licensed third-party music may require the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music: Going Live for Music Channels. See also YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and Content ID claims.

Monetization is conditional

Being able to livestream does not mean a channel or broadcast is eligible to earn money. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to livestreams and expect monetized content to be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible. A creator-produced course may provide substantive educational value, but that alone does not determine an individual channel’s eligibility or predict a review decision. Check the current YouTube channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common problems

  • You cannot start the stream: Check channel verification, any live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days, and whether first-time livestreaming has been enabled. Confirm that the stream key and URL belong to the intended stream.
  • The Live Control Room has no preview: Confirm that the encoder is running and sending to the matching stream URL with the correct key. Check the encoder’s connection status and wait for the feed to arrive.
  • The feed stutters or drops: Test the upload connection under sustained use. Reduce the outgoing settings to a level the connection and computer can maintain, and check the encoder and YouTube stream-health indicators.
  • The video looks soft or text is hard to read: Check the source resolution and outgoing encoder settings, then view the preview on a phone. Rework slides or notation that cannot be read at small sizes.
  • The audio or lesson transitions are wrong: Test representative sections, including the start and end of each file. Adjust the playback arrangement and repeat the test before making the stream public.
  • The stream is interrupted after music is detected: Review the rights for the material and resolve any Content ID or licensing issue with the relevant rights owner. A licence may not be enough if the owner must also allowlist your channel.
  • There is no complete 24-hour replay: That is not guaranteed for a stream exceeding 12 hours. Use a local recording or publish an on-demand version, and plan shorter live sessions if archives are required.

Is a 24/7 course the right format?

A continuous broadcast can make a finished course available without an instructor starting each lesson, but it is not a substitute for a dependable archive or an organized on-demand course. Before sharing the link, confirm the loop, transitions, stream health, readability, audio, rights, and recovery behavior in a test. YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025; that is platform-wide context, not a forecast of demand for a particular music theory course.
