You can run recorded church testimonies continuously on YouTube Live by sending a looping playlist through an encoder or cloud streaming service. First enable live streaming on the channel, confirm broadcast rights and consent, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, then connect and test the feed. Keep a separate archive: YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What you need for a continuous testimony stream
A prerecorded 24/7 broadcast is not the same as uploading videos to a playlist on your channel. An encoder or streaming service plays the recordings and sends a continuous live feed to YouTube. YouTube identifies both encoder streaming and cloud-based options for this use case; its listing of a tool does not amount to an endorsement or a comparison.
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream.
- Testimony videos and audio cleared for the intended broadcast.
- An encoder or cloud service that can play the videos continuously and send them to YouTube Live.
- A plan for monitoring interruptions and keeping recordings separately from YouTube’s live replay.
How to prepare the testimonies safely
Before building the playlist, decide which recordings are approved for public live broadcast and for any replay or local archive. Keep the original files and a record of what permission covers. Consent and privacy obligations vary by jurisdiction and circumstance, so seek appropriate local guidance where needed.
Review each recording
- Confirm permission from the people featured for the intended broadcast and archive.
- Check for names, contact details, or other identifying information that should not be public.
- Give particular care to minors and people in vulnerable circumstances, and to medical, financial, or other sensitive disclosures.
- Check every music track and other third-party element, including material audible in the background.
YouTube’s terms place responsibility on content providers to have the necessary rights for live content, including music. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; it may replace the feed with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Check whether the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. If live streaming has never been enabled, activation may take up to 24 hours. Check the channel’s eligibility and enable the feature in advance using YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
Create the stream and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder option. Follow YouTube’s prompts for the stream details and visibility.
- Copy the stream URL and key. In your encoder’s streaming settings, enter the server URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not include it in screenshots or share it broadly, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Choose a secure ingest connection where supported. RTMPS is RTMP tunneled through SSL. Configure the RTMPS endpoint and connection details correctly; see Google’s RTMPS ingestion guide.
- Start the encoder and check YouTube’s preview. Confirm the expected video and audio appear before directing viewers to the public stream. Keep the stream private or unlisted while testing if that suits your rollout.

Set quality and test the feed
Use settings that your encoder and real upload connection can sustain reliably. YouTube’s current encoder guidance calls for RTMP or RTMPS, supports H.264, specifies constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds.

These are recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection will hold the feed. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth headroom of 20% above the total stream bitrate. Test with representative footage, movement, and audio, then monitor stream health and playback quality. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and its streaming tips.

Choose how to keep the stream running
You can run the playlist with a local software or hardware encoder, or use a cloud service. YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for continuous prerecorded video; that listing establishes relevance only, not its pricing, reliability, support, or superiority to alternatives. Compare the operational details that matter to your church:
- Whether a computer and church internet connection must remain on.
- How playback resumes after a power or network interruption, and how you will notice a dropped feed.
- How staff manage the playlist and update approved testimonies.
- Whether local recordings, monitoring, alerts, access controls, and support are available.
- Who can access the stream key and testimony files, and the total cost over the intended run.

Plan the archive separately from the live feed
YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so a continuous 24/7 feed should not be treated as the archive of record. Keep the source testimony files and make local recordings or backups independently. If YouTube replays are important, consider whether to divide the broadcast into shorter sessions, while planning how breaks and restarts will work.

Troubleshoot common failures
