To loop a rights-cleared Kannada bhajan recording into YouTube Live, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, then run FFmpeg with -stream_loop -1 before the input you want repeated. That loops the input indefinitely; it does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. Your computer, connection, source files, YouTube ingest, account eligibility and content rights all still matter.
Before you start
- Check live-stream eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Confirm rights. Make sure you have permission to stream the specific bhajan recording and all artwork or other material in the broadcast. Traditional or devotional subject matter does not automatically make a particular recording free to use.
- Prepare the source file. Decide whether you are looping a video file or an audio file with a still or simple visual. Check the file plays correctly and that its audio is present and not clipping.
- Plan for the archive separately. If a YouTube replay matters, account for the platform’s 12-hour archive limit described below and keep a local recording.
Create a YouTube Live encoder stream
- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to enter the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder option.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown in the stream settings. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Use the ingest URL and key in FFmpeg. YouTube recommends RTMPS where supported because it encrypts the connection. Its live encoder settings explain the supported connection and encoding options.
Choose FFmpeg settings that fit the source and connection
YouTube’s published encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate encoding, and frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds. The recommended bitrate depends on codec, resolution and frame rate, so select the matching row in YouTube’s bitrate table; do not treat one bitrate as suitable for every stream.
For a bhajan accompanied by a still image or simple visual, a modest resolution and frame rate may be enough. Choose settings your FFmpeg build supports and your computer and stable upstream connection can sustain. Test representative audio and motion, inspect the YouTube preview, and watch stream health before making the broadcast public.
How do I loop audio or video in FFmpeg?
FFmpeg’s -stream_loop is an input option. Put it before the corresponding -i input: -stream_loop -1 means repeat that input indefinitely, while -stream_loop 0 means do not loop it. See the FFmpeg documentation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For example, the input portion of a command that loops a video file is ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "bhajan.mp4" .... The remaining options must encode compatible audio and video and send them to the RTMPS ingest URL with your stream key. There is no single complete command that fits every audio/video combination, FFmpeg build, resolution and YouTube ingest configuration. Use the options appropriate to your source and the encoder settings above; never publish a real key in a tutorial, repository or screenshot.
For an audio-only recording, the same input-loop principle applies: place -stream_loop -1 before that audio input. You still need a video signal for a YouTube Live broadcast, such as a still or simple visual, so configure the video input and output accordingly.

Start the stream and verify it
- Start FFmpeg with the configured source, encoding settings and YouTube ingest destination.
- In Live Control Room, check that YouTube receives the preview and that audio and video look and sound right.
- If the stream is scheduled with manual start enabled, select Go live in Live Control Room after the preview is ready.
- Monitor stream health and the broadcast. A successful loop does not prove that the encoder, computer, network or ingest will remain available indefinitely.
Keep a replay if the archive matters
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That makes an indefinitely running loop a poor archive plan by itself. For replay reliability, consider ending and scheduling shorter sessions, and record a local backup while the stream runs. Check that the local recording is growing rather than assuming the live encoder also creates a usable copy. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Rights and continuity risks
Copyright matches can interrupt a live broadcast
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; continued use of the matched material can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license does not necessarily prevent this: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, or the stream can still be interrupted. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and resolve permissions before going live.

A loop is not an uptime guarantee
-stream_loop -1 repeats an input, but FFmpeg cannot by itself prevent a process crash, computer shutdown, network failure, missing source file, YouTube ingest problem, account restriction or rights-related interruption. Process supervision and connection monitoring are operational measures you can consider, not guarantees of uninterrupted service.
Troubleshooting common problems
- YouTube does not show a preview: Check that FFmpeg is running, the server URL and stream key match the current Live Control Room stream, and the selected ingest protocol is supported. Keep the key private while checking it.
- The loop ends after one play: Confirm
-stream_loop -1appears before the input’s-ioption. It is an input option, not an output option. - The stream drops or looks unstable: Compare the selected resolution, frame rate and codec’s bitrate guidance with the connection’s stable upload capacity and the computer’s available processing headroom. Lower the output demands if either is insufficient, then test again.
- Audio is missing or distorted: Check that the intended audio stream is present and mapped in the output, listen to the preview, and verify levels are not clipping before starting a public session.
- YouTube interrupts the stream despite a license: Ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an automated live match interruption.
- No replay appears after a long broadcast: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use shorter sessions when an automatic archive is important and maintain a local recording.
Or let it run in the cloud
