Charging helps, but it does not guarantee an all-night CameraFi Live stream. A charger supplies power and makes Android exit Doze, yet the app, phone, network, and heat can still interrupt a broadcast. Test the same phone, CameraFi mode, charger, network, and screen behavior you plan to use before leaving it unattended.
What charging does—and does not—solve
Android says Doze can begin when a phone is unplugged, stationary, and screen-off; it restricts network and CPU-intensive activity. Connecting a charger exits Doze, so keeping the phone plugged in removes one potential source of background limits. Android’s power-management guidance also notes exceptions, including restricted standby status and user-applied battery restrictions. These platform rules do not guarantee that CameraFi Live will keep a particular broadcast running.
CameraFi’s public materials explain how to configure and start a YouTube broadcast, but they do not promise unattended overnight uptime or screen-off continuity. Charging addresses power and Doze; it cannot rule out a network interruption, app behavior, manufacturer-specific power management, or heat.
Test the exact overnight setup first
- Reproduce the planned setup. Use the same phone, CameraFi Live mode, charging source, and network you intend to use overnight.
- Start a supervised stream. Confirm the broadcast is live in YouTube, then leave the phone as you would overnight. If it will be locked or screen-off, test that state rather than assuming the app continues in the background.
- Watch for when it fails. If the stream stops only after the screen turns off or the phone locks, check the phone’s per-app battery and background-use controls. Menu names and behavior vary by manufacturer and Android version. Removing a restriction may help on some phones, but it is not a guarantee.
- Verify the result on YouTube. Confirm the stream remains live during the test. Before leaving the phone unattended, check that any recording or archive settings you need are correct. CameraFi’s tutorial says a broadcast may be available on YouTube after it ends, but does not guarantee retention or archiving for every stream.
Prepare power, network, and interruptions
- Check the connection. YouTube recommends testing internet speed before a mobile stream. Use a stable Wi-Fi or mobile connection and test it in the place where the phone will stay.
- Reduce interruptions. YouTube recommends enabling Do Not Disturb to reduce calls and notifications that could interrupt a mobile broadcast.
- Choose compatible charging equipment. Use a reputable wall charger or compatible power bank. A power bank can provide power, but it is not an uptime fix; compatibility and device behavior still matter.
- Do not assume charging prevents heat problems. The available guidance does not establish a universally safe overnight charging arrangement or a CameraFi-specific thermal limit. Check the phone and charger makers’ safety guidance, and do not treat a successful short test as proof that every longer run will behave identically.
What YouTube’s battery estimate means
YouTube gives a general estimate that mobile streaming uses about 1% of phone battery per minute and notes that external battery packs can be useful. This is not a CameraFi-specific measurement, and it should not be used to predict overnight runtime while charging. Actual behavior depends on the phone, stream setup, connection, and power source.

When a phone is the wrong unattended setup
If the stream must stay live without supervision, do not rely on charging alone. Only treat this phone-and-app combination as suitable after it has passed a supervised test in the exact screen, network, and charging conditions you plan to use.
