There is no documented IRL Pro switch that guarantees a YouTube live stream will stay on air while you change upload settings. The available official guidance also does not establish that changing resolution, frame rate, or bitrate necessarily restarts a YouTube event. To reduce risk, set and test those settings before going live. If your stream is reconnecting or losing signal, check the destination URL and key, protocol, and network stability before assuming an upload change caused it.
First, identify what is restarting
“Restarting” can describe different symptoms: IRL Pro may lose its broadcast connection, YouTube may show an ingest interruption, viewers may see a brief break, or the YouTube live event itself may end and a new event begin. The documentation does not define these as the same event or show that one necessarily causes another.
- Note whether IRL Pro’s broadcast indicator drops.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room to see whether it reports a temporary ingest interruption or a new/restarted event.
- Record what viewers see, the IRL Pro app version, the YouTube workflow, and which settings changed and when.
These observations help distinguish an encoder reconnect from an event restart; they do not, by themselves, prove the cause.
Before going live: set and verify the connection
Confirm the current stream URL and key
Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro guide warns that a publish URL can become invalid if the key’s region or protocol changes, or if the key is rotated. If you use that service, get the current complete publish URL and replace the old one in IRL Pro. Its guide explains that an SRT URL carries the key in streamid, while an RTMP URL already ends with the key. These details describe Enhanced IRL’s service; do not assume they apply to every destination in the same way. Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro setup guide.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Match the protocol to the receiving service
For Enhanced IRL, the guide says to select the same protocol in its dashboard and IRL Pro. Confirm the protocol supported by your actual destination, rather than treating RTMP or SRT as a universal YouTube-specific fix. The guide’s protocol advice is for its stream-key service.
Choose settings your connection can sustain
Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate before the broadcast, keeping them within both the receiving service’s limits and the upload capacity available along your route. If you use adaptive bitrate, keep its maximum within the applicable stream-key cap. Enhanced IRL’s own plan caps and suggested starting points are:

| Enhanced IRL plan | Documented cap | Suggested starting output |
|---|---|---|
| Stream Key Lite | 9,000 kbps | 1080p at 30 fps |
| Stream Key | 9,000 kbps | 1080p at 30 fps |
| OBS Basic | 6,000 kbps | 720p at 30 fps |
| OBS Standard | 6,000 kbps | 1080p at 30 fps |
| OBS Pro | 10,000 kbps | 1080p at 60 fps |
These are Enhanced IRL plan caps and suggested starting points, not universal YouTube limits. For mobile streaming, the service advises starting at half the applicable cap, testing the route, and increasing only while bitrate remains stable. In practice, a plan ceiling does not mean a moving connection can sustain that bitrate.
Use YouTube’s encoder guidance for the output you actually send
YouTube’s current Help guidance recommends CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of 4 seconds. Its H.264 recommended bitrate figures vary by resolution and frame rate:

Test before an important broadcast
- Run a speed test on the connection you will use. A result from a different network or location may not represent the route you plan to stream.
- Test the exact IRL Pro destination and settings. YouTube recommends testing before the event with representative audio and movement similar to the planned broadcast.
- For mobile use, test the route. Enhanced IRL recommends starting at half its applicable plan cap and increasing only if bitrate remains stable along the route.
- Check YouTube stream health while live. YouTube advises monitoring stream health and reviewing messages during the event.
YouTube’s relevant guidance is on its live encoder settings and stream health page.

If you need to change a setting midstream
Treat the result as unverified until you have tested your exact app version and workflow. The reviewed guidance documents no “keep live while changing” toggle and does not establish that a change will always restart the event. For an important broadcast, avoid changing encoder settings while live unless you have already confirmed what happens in a low-risk test. If a change cannot wait, plan for a possible interruption rather than promising viewers continuity.
YouTube’s “reuse settings” option is a separate consideration when creating a subsequent stream: YouTube says it also copies the auto-start and auto-stop choices. That setting does not explain what IRL Pro does when upload settings change during an active broadcast. See YouTube’s instructions for managing live stream settings.

Troubleshoot reconnects, loops, or “No signal”
IRL Pro repeatedly reconnects
If reconnecting happens independently of an intentional settings change, first recheck the complete current URL and key. In Enhanced IRL’s documented setup, an old or invalid URL can cause a reconnect loop. Its guide also notes that RTMP may struggle with packet loss while moving and suggests SRT for that service, or lowering bitrate if already using SRT. These are Enhanced IRL-specific troubleshooting notes, not a diagnosis of every direct IRL Pro-to-YouTube setup.
YouTube reports an ingest interruption or “No signal”
Check that IRL Pro is still broadcasting, the destination URL and key are current, the protocol matches the receiving service, and the network can sustain the selected bitrate. If the connection is unstable, lower the bitrate or output demand and test again. Do not infer from a temporary ingest interruption alone that YouTube created a new event.
The event appears to have ended or restarted
Compare the YouTube Live Control Room event state with what IRL Pro reports and what viewers saw. Keep the exact time and settings change in your notes. The available official guidance does not identify a setting that prevents this event-level outcome, nor prove that an upload change caused it.
Keep a YouTube stream running without leaving a device on
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video looping on a YouTube channel 24/7, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option rather than a fix for IRL Pro’s mid-broadcast setting behavior. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card.
