These are archived U.S. Black Friday offers from November–December 2024, not current deals. The promotions have ended, and none of the prices below is verified as available today. Sony said its overall promotion ran November 22 through December 2, 2024, but retailer and product offer periods varied. Check a retailer’s current price, seller, region, and stock before buying.
What the 2024 PS5 console deals cost
The main choice was between a Slim Digital Edition, which plays downloaded games only, and a Slim console with a disc drive, which also plays physical PS5 games. In USA TODAY’s November 2024 roundup, updated November 29, the digital console had the lower advertised price; the disc model cost $50 more at PlayStation Direct.
| 2024 U.S. offer | Advertised price | Reference price | Retailer and context |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Slim Digital Edition | $374.99 | $449.99 | PlayStation Direct; USA TODAY also listed Amazon at $374 and other retailers around $374–$374.99. |
| PS5 Slim with disc drive | $424.99 | $499.99 | PlayStation Direct; USA TODAY listed Amazon at $424 and Best Buy, Target, and GameStop at $424.99. |
These were reported U.S. sale listings, not a guarantee that every retailer had the same stock or price at the same time. The figures are historical examples, not a price recommendation for a purchase today. USA TODAY’s 2024 roundup has the dated retailer listings.
Bundles: compare the included game, not just the console price
Several offers paired a console with a game or in-game content. Their advertised prices could match a console-only deal while carrying a higher stated reference price, so the bundle’s value depended on whether you wanted its included content.

PS VR2: two different $349.99 offer descriptions
USA TODAY reported a Best Buy price of $349.99 for the PS VR2 bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain, compared with a stated $599.99 regular price. It also reported a separate Sony-store offer for the PS VR2 headset at $349.99 versus $549.99, described as running through January 3, 2025. These are distinct offers with different bundle contents and reference prices, not evidence that every retailer used the same comparison price. Both promotions have ended. PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Gear offers
Sony’s 2024 promotion included offers beyond hardware. New PlayStation Plus members could save up to 30% on a 12-month membership. Existing Essential members could save 25% on the remainder of a plan when upgrading to Extra; members upgrading from Extra to Premium or Deluxe could save 30%. Eligibility depended on membership tier and upgrade path, and the advertised maximum for new members did not mean every existing subscriber qualified.
Subscriptions renewed at the then-current store price until canceled. Sony said catalog availability varied by region, plan, and time. It also advertised up to 40% off select PlayStation Gear merchandise, with selected products and offer dates varying. These were Sony’s stated 2024 promotions, not prices or terms verified today. Sony’s November 20, 2024 announcement contains the promotion details.

When the offers ran—and why location mattered
Sony announced its 2024 promotion on November 20, with an overall window of November 22 through December 2. It warned that “offers will vary by region and retailer,” and said individual product offers could have different sales periods. USA TODAY’s reported retailer windows included end dates ranging from November 30 and December 3 to December 13, December 23, December 25, and January 3, 2025. The exact end date depended on the particular offer; the overall Sony window did not set a universal deadline for every listing. Sony’s announcement and USA TODAY’s retailer roundup describe those historical terms.
All retailer prices in this article are U.S. examples. They should not be carried over to Canada, the U.K., Europe, or another market. Sony directed shoppers to local offers because availability and promotions varied by region.
