Capcom said the game could spend extra CPU time checking claimed-content status in those locations, with the effect varying by unclaimed content and CPU performance. The update fixed that issue; Capcom also explicitly said the number of DLCs owned did not cause it. These notes describe that specific update, not necessarily the game’s newest state.

These figures are from the Steam / CAPCOM PC requirements page, accessed in 2026. They provide a baseline for comparison, not a diagnosis: being above an example specification does not guarantee a target in every situation, and being below one does not prove the game cannot launch. Before considering a component change, write down your exact CPU and GPU, graphics memory (VRAM), system memory, graphics-driver version, Windows version, and display details.
Try software and configuration checks first
Update the graphics driver and restart Windows
Capcom recommends installing the latest appropriate graphics driver and rebooting afterward. Use the support page for your GPU manufacturer to check for a current driver. Driver versions named in Capcom’s January 2026 update notes were advisory information for that update and should not be treated as current recommendations.

Make sure the game uses the intended GPU and power mode
On a laptop with integrated and discrete graphics, check that Windows assigns the game to the high-performance GPU. The route in Capcom’s guidance is Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics; select the game and choose High performance where available. Menus can differ by Windows build. For a laptop, connect the charger and check its power settings, which may also vary by manufacturer.
Close background applications as a controlled test
Recording tools, overlays, and other resource-heavy applications can complicate performance troubleshooting. Close one category at a time, then repeat the same activity in the same game area. Comparing like with like makes it easier to tell whether a background application is related to the problem. Capcom also includes checking that other applications are not running among its stability checks.

Verify the game files and treat shader-cache deletion as targeted troubleshooting
Verify the installation in Steam
Capcom recommends verifying the game cache in Steam to check for missing or damaged files. Open your Steam Library, right-click Monster Hunter Wilds, choose Properties > Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam finish before launching the game again.
Delete shader-cache files only when relevant
For certain graphical issues, Capcom’s troubleshooting guidance suggests deleting the game-generated shader.cache and shader.cache2 files. This is an option for relevant symptoms, not a guaranteed FPS fix or a cure for all stutter. The game may rebuild shader data afterward, so allow that process to complete before judging performance.

Adjust graphics settings to match the problem
Lower the preset and compare the same scene
If the frame rate is unstable, Capcom recommends lowering the Graphics preset to Low or Medium. Make reversible changes and compare performance in the same location or activity. The available sources do not establish a specific FPS increase for an individual PC, so use your own repeatable comparison rather than expecting a fixed gain.
Check Frame Generation and V-Sync only for the relevant symptoms
If Frame Generation is unavailable, Capcom advises enabling Windows GPU scheduling and updating the graphics driver if needed. Availability and results depend on supported hardware and the rest of the setup.

If you experience input delay or degraded performance while Frame Generation is enabled, Capcom’s troubleshooting announcement suggests trying V-Sync off in the game’s Display options. This is a targeted test for those symptoms, not a general fix for every low-FPS problem.
Check heat and stability
Capcom warns that excessive heat can make operation unstable. Keep the PC in a well-ventilated area; lowering graphics settings and limiting the frame rate may also reduce heat. If you need to investigate further, use monitoring tools provided by your PC or hardware manufacturer and compare readings while reproducing the issue. The cited guidance does not establish a universal temperature threshold or show that every affected PC needs a new cooler.
Send Capcom a useful problem report
If the issue remains after these checks, include enough system information for support to assess your configuration. Capcom asks reporters for details such as:
- CPU model and PC or laptop model
- GPU model and VRAM, plus graphics-driver version
- System memory and Windows version
- Security software and monitor model or models
- Game version, the location or activity where the problem occurs, and the symptom you observe

Do not buy a CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, or cooling accessory solely because the game stutters. Steam lists an SSD as a requirement, but that does not establish it as a universal low-FPS remedy. First identify a matching limitation in your system; an upgrade is worth evaluating only when the evidence points to that component and the replacement is compatible with your PC. The published requirements alone do not rank newer parts or show which upgrade will improve performance in your particular setup.
