Start with the game’s published PC requirements, then check the launch-recommended graphics driver, free SSD space, and Windows virtual memory. Those are the official baseline checks; Bandai Namco has not published a universal fix for crashes or Error 01, and it has not identified a validated title-specific fix for stuttering or low FPS. The game launched globally on October 2, 2026, so compatibility guidance and crash reports may change as updates arrive.
First, identify what is going wrong
“Crashes,” “stuttering,” and “low FPS” describe different symptoms. Record exactly what happens before changing settings: does the game close to desktop, freeze the whole PC, show an error such as “Error 01,” fail at the same cutscene or mission, hitch briefly, or run at a consistently low frame rate? A repeatable failure during a particular scene is useful evidence, but does not by itself identify the cause.
Write down the CPU and GPU models, graphics-driver version, RAM amount, Windows version, install drive and available space, resolution, graphics preset, and exact error text. Project Aces asks affected players to report the error code, the circumstances in which the crash occurs, and PC specifications.
Check whether the PC meets the published requirements
Bandai Namco’s PC requirements specify Windows 11, an SSD, DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6.6 or higher, hardware ray tracing, and the following processor, memory, and graphics configurations. Compare your actual hardware with these requirements before considering an upgrade.

These specifications are from Bandai Namco’s requirements page. Storage figures conflict: the current Steam listing says 150 GB. Check the live listing for your region and game version rather than assuming either figure is definitive. Separately, the official crash notice recommends keeping at least 16 GB free on the SSD where the game is installed.
Understand what the FPS estimates mean
Steam estimates 1080p with upscaling at 30 fps on Low for minimum hardware. Bandai Namco’s recommended-spec page estimates 1080p with upscaling at 60 fps on Medium for recommended hardware. These are publisher/store estimates, not independent benchmark results or guarantees of stable performance; Steam warns that frame rates can drop in graphics-intensive scenes. Meeting minimum requirements therefore does not promise a consistent 30 fps in every situation.

Try the official crash checks
Project Aces’ official Steam request, reproduced in the Ace Combat bug-report thread, says: “We are actively working to resolve the game crashes issues that some of our players are currently experiencing.” Its notice points affected players to these checks:
- Check the graphics-driver version recommended by the game at launch. Use that in-game guidance as the reference. A specific driver rollback is not an official universal fix.
- Check available space on the install SSD. Confirm the drive has at least 16 GB free, as advised in the crash notice. Also consult the current store listing for the game’s total storage requirement.
- Confirm that Windows virtual memory is enabled. The notice identifies this as a check, not a guaranteed cure.
Change one thing at a time and see whether the same failure still occurs. That makes it easier to tell whether a check changed the symptom instead of obscuring the cause.

For stuttering or consistently low FPS
The official sources establish system requirements and the general support checks above, but do not provide a validated, title-specific sequence for fixing stutter or low frame rates. If the game remains playable, you can use reversible graphics-setting changes as diagnostic experiments: lower one setting, replay the same scene, and compare the result before changing another. This can help isolate a performance-sensitive setting, but no particular setting is established as a fix.
Note whether the problem is an occasional hitch or persistently low frame rate, and record the scene, resolution, preset, and any settings you changed. If the symptom is actually a crash or full system freeze, report it as such rather than treating it as ordinary stutter.

If the problem continues, send a reproducible report
Use the official support channels linked from Bandai Namco’s game page and include the information Project Aces requests:
- The exact error code or message, if one appears.
- What you were doing when the problem occurred and whether it can be reproduced, including the mission or scene.
- Your CPU, GPU, graphics-driver version, RAM, and Windows version.
- The install drive and available space, display resolution, graphics settings, and whether the symptom is a crash, freeze, hitch, or low frame rate.
Community posts mention approaches such as driver rollback, frame caps, and launch options, but reports are anecdotal and results vary. They are not verified universal fixes. Avoid registry edits, disabling system security, or unstable overclocking or underclocking as troubleshooting shortcuts; the cited official guidance does not validate them.
