The official announcements do not identify the exact in-game quest, menu option, map marker, or story milestone that starts it, so there is no confirmed click-by-click trigger to give yet.
1. Check that you own the expansion
PlayStation announced two routes: existing Ghost of Yōtei owners can get the expansion with the Complete Edition Upgrade, while new players can buy the Complete Edition, which includes the base game, Echoes of Sekigahara, and the separate Most Wanted single-player combat survival mode. The announcement listed U.S. prices of $14.99 for the upgrade and $69.99 for the Complete Edition at announcement time. Those are dated U.S. prices, not a guarantee of current pricing elsewhere; check your regional PlayStation Store or retailer. The physical Complete Edition was announced for October 1, 2026. The announcement does not establish any particular retailer listing.
2. Install patch v.2.0
Patch v.2.0 is the announced delivery mechanism for the expansion. PlayStation scheduled it for October 1, 2026 globally, and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those rollout dates have passed, but availability can still vary by region. Downloading the patch requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.

- On the PlayStation account that owns the game and expansion, check for the game’s available update and install patch v.2.0.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish, then launch the updated game.
- If the patch or expansion is not available, check your regional store and account, and confirm that the game edition or upgrade you own includes Echoes of Sekigahara.
3. Find the expansion’s in-game start point
The official announcements reviewed describe the expansion’s contents but do not say which quest, menu option, map marker, or story milestone starts it. They therefore do not support a specific instruction such as selecting a named mission or traveling to a particular location. After installing the patch, check the current game for newly available content; if no start point appears, consult current official post-launch guidance or PlayStation support rather than relying on an unverified trigger.

Echoes of Sekigahara is a narrative expansion moving between two periods in Atsu’s life: the present and her past during the Battle of Sekigahara. In the present, Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past, arrives in Ezo. Atsu joins him to find an ally taken by the Vipers in the previously unseen Ashoro Foothills. The announcement also lists new enemy types, heavy weapons, mythic tales and abilities, armor sets, and cosmetics.
