Check that the stone matches the equipment
A current community guide distinguishes Manastones from Soulstones: it describes Manastones as going in weapons and armor, and Soulstones as going in accessories. This is community guidance, not official confirmation, so use the current in-game tooltip or interface for your item and client. Check the item and the message on screen
- Inspect the target item. Read its tooltip and the socketing interface to see whether the item accepts the stone type and whether a slot is available. Treat these as basic checks; the reviewed sources do not confirm a universal slot display or exact socketing rules.
- Read the full error message. Note its exact wording rather than guessing at the cause. The sources reviewed do not document an official error-by-error fix.
- Keep the attempt’s details together. If you need help, include your region, client version or patch, item name, stone name, and the exact message. These details can help others assess whether advice applies to your situation.
Be careful before transferring gear
The same community guide says socketed stones do not survive a gear transfer. Before spending valuable stones, verify how the specific item’s transfer or upgrade works in your client; the guide is useful context, not official confirmation for every item or version. Aion 2 Maps’ guide covers its stated transfer behavior.
Do not apply older Aion socketing rules to Aion 2
Legacy Aion references describe older socketing mechanics and penalties, but they do not establish how Aion 2 behaves. For example, the Aion Wiki’s Manastone Socketing page is about legacy Aion, not confirmation of Aion 2 rules. A player-authored Aion 2 gear-progression discussion is also not official mechanics documentation. Do not assume a success rate, pity system, level restriction, or guaranteed-success item without current evidence for your region and patch.

Where to go if it still fails
If the item tooltip, stone type, available slot, and error message do not explain the failure, check current in-game help or contact official support for your region. The sources cited here do not establish a specific official support article or escalation process.
