Where to find Skull Tyrant
The first Skull Tyrant encounter is in a hidden area in The Marrow. Head east and use Cling Grip to access an unexplored passage; the sources agree on the region and ability required, but describe different nearby landmarks. Follow the map’s unexplored route rather than relying on a single landmark description. Gamer Guides, the Silksong Wiki and PCGamesN place the lair in eastern The Marrow.
How to start The Terrible Tyrant
The hunt for Skull Tyrant is called The Terrible Tyrant and is associated with a Wishwall or Wishwell. Accounts differ on when it appears: Gamer Guides says it can be obtained after freeing Bellhart and returning to Bone Bottom; the Silksong Wiki lists defeating Sister Splinter and accepting the Wish among its steps; Silksong.codes says to accept it from Bone Bottom’s Wishwall. Check the board, and if the hunt is not listed, progress the relevant early-game wishes. Gamer Guides, Silksong Wiki.
How to avoid Skull Tyrant’s attacks
Watch its wind-up before committing to an attack. PCGamesN describes two distinct ground tells: a body shake with raised legs precedes a charge, while a shake without raised legs signals a jump and slam. A roar signals falling rocks from above. Silksong.codes also warns about a close-range skull slam.

- Recovery: Use the pause after an attack to land hits, then reposition before the next tell.

What damage strategy works?
Longpin is the clearest armor-focused recommendation: both PCGamesN and Silksong.codes recommend it against Skull Tyrant’s armor. Otherwise, prioritize safe openings after attacks instead of trading hits. Guidance on pogo damage conflicts: PCGamesN says pogoing on the skull does not hurt the boss, while Silksong.codes suggests pogo attacks over its back. Do not count on a skull pogo as a reliable damage source.

There is also an optional ledge tactic. PCGamesN describes baiting the boss off a ledge and attacking from a marked safe zone; Silksong.codes calls this a cheese strategy. - Defeat Skull Tyrant in its hidden The Marrow lair.
- Collect the Crown Fragment after the fight.
- Return the fragment to complete The Terrible Tyrant.

Is there a second Skull Tyrant encounter?
Several guides report another Skull Tyrant encounter at Bone Bottom, but they do not agree on its trigger. Silksong.codes describes a surprise rematch when returning to turn in the Crown Fragment; Nintendo Life says it can happen randomly while resting at a Bone Bottom bench; PCGamesN connects the settlement encounter to turning in An Icon of Hope.
