Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor most Windows PC players, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is the easier default: Microsoft documents Windows support and configuration through Xbox Accessories. Choose the DualSense Edge if you want Sony’s Windows profile workflow, customizable controls, and replaceable stick modules. Neither is a universal winner—some Edge features depend on the game or a wired connection, and there is no comparative performance test here to establish which controller feels, lasts, or responds better.

How each controller works with a Windows PC
DualSense Edge: USB-C or Bluetooth, with game-dependent features
Sony lists Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11 as supported systems and documents USB and Bluetooth connections. Sony cautions that feature availability depends on the device and game. Adaptive triggers work when a game supports them; haptics may require a USB connection. The built-in microphone and speaker are also game-dependent, and the headset jack requires a wired PC connection. Some features are unavailable over Bluetooth. See Sony’s PC compatibility details.
That makes the Edge’s feature set less predictable from the controller name alone: check whether the specific PC game supports the functions you care about, and whether it supports them over your intended connection.
Xbox Elite Series 2: USB, Bluetooth, or a separate adapter
Microsoft lists Windows 7 or later support. On Windows 10 and 11, the Elite Series 2 can connect by Bluetooth, its included cable, or an Xbox Wireless adapter sold separately. Windows 7 and 8.1 require the included cable, and Microsoft notes that some functionality is unsupported on those systems. Xbox Accessories features are listed for Windows 10/11. Its documented options include button remapping, stick and trigger adjustments, and vibration controls. That is the stronger fit if managing those settings through Sony’s controller software is important to you. Sony explains the app and profile features.

Repairability, battery, and price
Stick replacement: a documented Edge option
Sony identifies replacement DualSense Edge stick modules as separately sold and interchangeable between the controller’s left and right positions. That offers a manufacturer-documented replacement path for the stick module; it does not establish a comparative durability advantage for the controller as a whole. Sony’s module instructions.
Battery: Microsoft’s stated maximum
Microsoft advertises up to 40 hours of battery life per charge for the Elite Series 2 and qualifies that figure as dependent on usage and other factors. Treat it as an advertised maximum, not a guarantee of your play time or evidence that it outlasts the DualSense Edge in a controlled comparison. Microsoft’s battery specification

The available figures do not provide a like-for-like current price comparison with the DualSense Edge, so check the exact model and package contents before buying. Microsoft’s US controller page
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Xbox Elite Series 2 if you want the more direct Windows-oriented default and expect to configure it with Xbox Accessories.
- Choose the DualSense Edge if Sony’s profile controls or its separately sold, interchangeable stick modules are the features you specifically want.
- Check game support before choosing the Edge for its special features. Adaptive triggers, haptics, microphone, and speaker behavior on PC depend on the game or connection as Sony specifies.
- Do not choose on an assumed performance advantage. The available documentation does not establish comparative latency, comfort, durability, or polling-rate results.
