Razer says the DeathAdder V4 Pro is the first gaming mouse to feature its HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 system. Separately, the company describes the model’s optical scroll wheel as a first for Razer. Announced on July 10, 2025, the V4 Pro pairs those changes with an 8,000 Hz polling option, a lighter right-handed design, and updated sensor and switch specifications.
What is the first-time feature?
The headline’s main “first” is HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2: Razer called the DeathAdder V4 Pro the first gaming mouse to feature the wireless technology. Razer says Gen-2 is over 63% more power-efficient and has 37% lower latency than its predecessor; those are company comparisons, not independent measurements. The wording matters: it is Razer’s first-mouse claim for this system, not a claim that the V4 Pro invented high-speed wireless gaming mice.
There is a second, distinct debut. Razer says the V4 Pro introduces its first Optical Scroll Wheel, designed for esports, and claims it is three times as durable as traditional mechanical scroll wheels. No independent durability result is established here, so treat that figure as Razer’s claim.
What changed, and what do the specifications mean?
The V4 Pro keeps the DeathAdder line’s right-handed ergonomic focus while updating several components. Razer says the DeathAdder family has sold over 20 million units worldwide; that is the company’s figure, not an independently audited count.

- LIGHTNING-FAST WIRELESS PERFORMANCE — Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 delivers lower latency and ultra-stable connectivity with up to 8000 Hz polling for responsive input in high-stakes gaming scenarios
- MAXIMUM AIM PRECISION AND TRACKING — 45K DPI Focus Pro Optical Sensor Gen-2 with 900 IPS and 99.8% accuracy ensures reliable tracking across surfaces for shooters, MOBAs, and precision gameplay
- MORE CONTROL WITH OPTICAL SCROLL AND SWITCHES — Optical scroll wheel and Gen-4 optical switches provide tactile feedback and durability up to 100 million clicks for consistent control during intense matches
- LONG-LASTING BATTERY FOR EXTENDED PLAY — Up to 150 hours at 1000 Hz lets you game longer without interruptions, ideal for long sessions or tournament play
| Feature | DeathAdder V4 Pro specification or claim | Practical context |
|---|---|---|
| Polling rate | Up to 8,000 Hz in wired and wireless modes, per Razer | Higher polling can increase how often the mouse reports its position, but the maximum is not necessary for every player and affects battery life. |
| Battery | Up to 150 hours at 1,000 Hz, per Razer | GamesRadar+ reports Razer’s estimate is 22 hours at 8,000 Hz. Runtime therefore depends heavily on the selected polling rate. |
| Sensor | Focus Pro 45K Optical Sensor Gen-2; up to 45,000 DPI, 900 IPS, 85 G, and 99.8% resolution accuracy, per Razer | These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not a guarantee that a player will aim better at the maximum settings. |
| Switches | Razer Optical Mouse Switches Gen-4, rated for 100 million clicks by Razer | The lifecycle figure is a manufacturer rating, not an independent test result. |
| Weight | 56 g in black and 57 g in white in Razer’s launch announcement; the product page lists 58 g for Esports Green | Razer says the mouse is more than 10% lighter than its predecessor. Weight differs by color variant. |
| Construction | Over 67% bio-based and post-consumer recycled plastics, according to Razer | This is Razer’s materials claim. |
The most consequential trade-off in those numbers is likely polling rate versus runtime. If you want to use 8,000 Hz wirelessly, the 22-hour manufacturer estimate reported by GamesRadar+ is a more relevant reference than the 150-hour figure, which applies at 1,000 Hz.
How does the shape and control layout suit games?
Razer describes a refined ergonomic shell, larger PTFE feet, split side buttons, and a smooth-touch finish. Reviews characterize the mouse as a right-handed, esports-oriented design. That makes hand fit and grip style more useful considerations than maximum DPI alone: a shape that feels secure in a player’s hand can matter more than a specification ceiling.

GamesRadar+ notes six buttons and separated side buttons, while TechRadar highlights the ergonomic design and software customization. TechRadar also notes that the mouse has no RGB lighting; GamesRadar+ points out there is no Bluetooth. It is therefore a focused 2.4 GHz wireless or wired gaming mouse rather than an all-purpose multi-device model.
What did reviewers find?
TechRadar’s reviewer used the mouse for about two weeks, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and other games. The review praised the ergonomics, optical scroll wheel, sensor, and software customization, while noting the lack of RGB and a higher price than the previous generation.

GamesRadar+ describes hands-on FPS play and aim-training tests, reporting comfortable right-handed ergonomics, capable Synapse customization, and an 8,000 Hz receiver included in the box. Its criticisms include absent Bluetooth, battery drain at high polling rates, and a premium price. These are reviewer impressions rather than universal outcomes; comfort and the value of high polling depend on the player and setup.

It is less compelling if you need Bluetooth, RGB lighting, or long runtime while using the maximum wireless polling rate. Before choosing it over alternatives such as the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX, Razer Viper V3 Pro, or Keychron M7 8K, compare grip compatibility, weight, button placement, connectivity, and current local prices. Review prices are time-sensitive and should not be treated as current quotes.
