NBA injury reports are team-submitted snapshots, not guarantees that a player will or will not play. Under the NBA’s published 2025–26 policy, most reports are due by 5 p.m. local time the day before a game, with a separate deadline for the second night of a back-to-back. Teams must also submit game-day reports in specified windows, and NBA Official says listings are updated continually—so check the official report again near tip-off.
When do NBA injury reports come out?
The NBA’s 2025–26 Injury Report policy requires a team to report an injury, illness, other medical condition, or rest when it may affect a player’s participation. The team provides a participation status and a specific reason. The policy sets deadlines in local time; the times below are not a single national time-zone schedule.
| Situation | 2025–26 reporting deadline or window |
|---|---|
| Most games | By 5 p.m. local time on the day before the game. |
| Second game of a back-to-back | By 1 p.m. local time on game day. |
| Other game days | An additional submission window from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time. |
| Game tipping at 5 p.m. or earlier | The game-day submission window is 8–10 a.m. local time. |
These are policy deadlines and submission windows, not promises that a report will appear only at those times. NBA Official says, “Reports are updated on a continual basis throughout the day.”
How often do teams update player status?
The official report is a changing account of what a team has submitted. A player’s status can change as the team updates its information, so an earlier listing is not necessarily the latest word for that game. How late can a questionable player be ruled out?
The policy establishes reporting deadlines and additional game-day reporting windows, but it does not say that a player listed as questionable will definitely play, nor does it guarantee that the initial status is final. Since reports are updated continually, a status may change later in the day. The practical answer is to follow the latest official listing rather than treating an earlier report as a final decision.
Which season do these deadlines apply to?
The deadlines above come from the NBA’s page explicitly labeled for the 2025–26 season. They should not be assumed to govern 2026–27: a 2026–27 policy is not established by that page. Check the NBA’s season-specific policy for the season in question before relying on particular deadlines.

Why older articles may show fixed posting times
An NBA announcement about the 2018–19 Daily Team Injury Report described scheduled postings at 1:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. ET. That was a historical publication schedule, not the 2025–26 update rule. The current-season policy page says reports are updated continually throughout the day, so those old ET posting times should not be used as the present schedule.
