Your first Pets Survivors runs are about learning the loop and staying out of danger, not finding a proven “best build.” Fight enemy waves, collect experience, and use level-ups to improve your weapon, special ability, or pet. Keep space around your character, then use coins for permanent perks between attempts.
How a run works
Pets Survivors is a survival roguelike: defeat waves of enemies to gain experience, then choose an upgrade when you level up. The choices cover weapons, special abilities, and pets. Coins collected during play can also be spent on permanent perks, so progression can continue between runs.
The official Steam listing describes the level-up and permanent-upgrade loop. Nintendo’s store description also highlights waves, coins, and keeping distance from danger.
What to focus on in your first run
Choose a pet and weapon you can understand
The game offers different pets with their own skills and stats, as well as a range of starting weapons. Nintendo’s listing specifies 14 playable pets and a dozen starting weapons. For a first attempt, read the in-game descriptions and pick options whose roles make sense to you. Notice how their upgrades affect your run; this is a way to learn, not a ranking of which choices are strongest.

Keep room to move
Nintendo’s official advice is to take down waves while “strategically keeping your distance from danger.” In practice, avoid drifting into a spot where enemies can close in from every side. Keep a route open as you move, and pay attention to whether your current position is making it harder to avoid threats. The listing does not prescribe one route or movement pattern for every stage.
Build around the choices you rely on
When a level-up offers a weapon, special ability, or pet upgrade, consider whether it strengthens something already helping you or adds a capability you currently lack. The official listing confirms those categories, but does not identify an optimal combination. Treat each choice as a chance to develop a run that fits what you have encountered rather than chasing a formula.

What to do between attempts
Use coins for permanent perks when they are available. Since these upgrades persist and can make later attempts stronger, a failed run can still contribute to progression. The available official descriptions do not list perk prices or establish a best purchase order, so use the options shown in your game and decide based on what would help your next attempt.
Carry forward one useful observation from each run: which pet or weapon you selected, which upgrades proved useful to you, and when enemies began to crowd your space. Changing one choice at a time can make it easier to understand what is helping, without assuming that one approach works in every area.

Check your platform’s release and availability
Store dates vary by platform and region. As of October 4, 2026, Steam lists a June 1, 2026 release, and the US PlayStation listing gives August 12, 2026 for PS4 and PS5. The Nintendo UK page lists December 8, 2026 for Switch, which is still in the future on that date. Xbox has an official product listing, but the retrieved listing did not provide a release date. Check the store page for your region before planning to play.

The official store descriptions explain the core loop and broad survival principle, but they do not establish exact controls, enemy schedules, upgrade values, stage-by-stage tactics, or a best starting build. Use the controls and upgrade details presented in your version of the game, and judge choices by what you observe in your own runs rather than relying on unsupported rankings.
