The Jaunt is Radovan’s missing-cart quest in the Trosky region. Finish The Blacksmith’s Son, then speak to the blacksmith again at his forge in Tachov. From there, follow Lord Semine and Gnarly from Semine to Troskowitz and the wooded area near the abandoned cart. If you want the best chance of preserving a later side-quest opportunity, keep the fleeing hired hand alive.
Before you start: unlock and route condition
Complete The Blacksmith’s Son and return to Blacksmith Radovan at his forge in Tachov. Speak with him to receive the missing-cart task if it is available. PowerPyx’s walkthrough reports that doing the Miller’s questline first skips The Jaunt and advances Radovan’s sequence to The Hermit. Gamer Guides confirms the prerequisite but does not describe that route exception, so treat it as a reported route lock rather than a condition confirmed by both guides.

The cart and goods were being taken toward Semine by Radovan’s hired hands, Ventza and Franzi. The quest leads you through a search with Lord Semine and Gnarly, a bandit encounter, and a return to Radovan. Afterward, the blacksmith questline continues toward The Hermit.
Walkthrough: find the cart and hired hand
- Start at Radovan’s forge in Tachov. After completing The Blacksmith’s Son, speak to Radovan again and accept The Jaunt if it appears.
- Travel to Semine. Near the estate and tavern area, deal with Jurko. Gamer Guides recommends parrying and counterattacking; the encounter is also listed as a required objective in PowerPyx’s walkthrough.
- Meet Lord Semine and Gnarly. Continue through the courtyard and follow them. A duel with Lord Semine is part of the route described by PowerPyx. Gamer Guides reports that winning earns Gnarly’s mace and shield, while losing still earns the mace.
- Ask about the cart in Troskowitz. Speak with the bailiff, then return to Lord Semine and Gnarly to advance the search.
- Follow the trail toward Apollonia. Investigate the crossroads near the cemetery and look for the charcoal clue by the path. Continue to the next clue and follow the companions toward the woods, where the abandoned cart is concealed by the terrain.
- Scout the bandit patrol from a safe distance. PowerPyx describes three bandits near the top of a path between rocks. Stay out of sight while observing them. If they detect you, the scouting objective fails and the next task changes to attacking the patrol.
- Choose how to begin the fight. After a successful scout, recommend attacking from above if you want Gnarly to provide his crossbow. Otherwise, the group can make a direct surprise assault.
- Find and pursue the fleeing hired hand. Search after the camp fight and follow the person who runs. Gamer Guides recommends the dialogue choice “You’re no match for me!” to persuade him to stand down. That guide connects sparing him with possible later side quests, including Canker; it does not establish this dialogue as a guaranteed requirement.
- Return to Radovan in Tachov. Report what happened to finish The Jaunt.
Choices that change the encounter or later content
Scout unseen, or fight after being spotted
Remaining undetected preserves the scouting objective and lets you pick an attack approach. If a bandit spots you, the objective changes to a patrol fight. PowerPyx characterizes this as a difficult one-against-three encounter, so avoid exposing yourself while scouting if you want to retain the choice.

Take the high ground or attack directly
Recommending an attack from above gives Gnarly the opportunity to supply his crossbow for the opening. A direct surprise assault is the alternative described in the walkthroughs. The sources do not establish one universally best combat setup.
Spare the hired hand
Letting the hired hand live may preserve access to follow-up content such as Canker, according to Gamer Guides. Use its suggested “You’re no match for me!” line if you want to try to make him surrender; the reported link between this encounter and later quests is not presented as a guaranteed outcome.

Win or lose the duel
Gamer Guides reports a different reward depending on the duel: Gnarly’s mace and shield for a win, or the mace alone for a loss. This reward detail comes from that guide’s account.

Reward descriptions vary between the consulted walkthroughs. PowerPyx lists 80 Groschen and a cuirass it calls “Rusty Sheet” when reporting back to Radovan. NightlyGamingBinge instead calls the armor “Rusted plate” and reports 80 groschen from Semine before the Radovan turn-in. The exact armor name and timing are not established consistently; check your inventory and quest journal for the reward shown in your game.
