What the Tomatometer score means
Rotten Tomatoes defines the Tomatometer as the percentage of Approved Tomatometer Critics who gave a movie a positive review. It measures the share of positive reviews, not how strongly critics liked a film on average. A 56% score, for example, does not mean critics rated the movie 5.6 out of 10, nor does it predict whether a particular viewer will enjoy it. The figure also should not be confused with Rotten Tomatoes’ audience score.
Should Hobbs & Shaw be included?
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) is a spin-off, so it is excluded from the ten-film mainline ranking. Its Rotten Tomatoes title page showed 67% from 341 reviews in the October 4, 2026 snapshot. If you rank all franchise films together, it ties The Fate of the Furious at 67%. A current U.S. JustWatch guide counts eleven movies when it includes Hobbs & Shaw and calls Fast X the eleventh.

How to read the ranking as a viewer
The scores offer one way to sort the series, not a definitive viewing order or a guarantee about personal taste. The franchise develops from street-racing roots toward heists and increasingly large-scale action; the change in style is useful context, but it does not explain or prove why any one film received its score. Choose based on what you want from a movie as well as its critic percentage.

Rotten Tomatoes’ 2017 franchise ranking article is useful for its historical 77% figure for Fast Five, but it predates the later movies and should not be treated as a current complete ranking.
