If Forza Horizon 6 cannot connect on PC, first check whether Xbox services or other online games are also affected. If the problem appears limited to Forza, work through the Windows network checks and low-risk restarts below before changing account credentials or network settings. The official Forza troubleshooting guide is general rather than a confirmed Horizon 6-specific fix list, so no single step is guaranteed to resolve every error.
First, check whether the problem is local or service-side
Try another online game or Xbox service, and note whether the failure is constant or intermittent. Check official Xbox and Forza service updates before changing your PC. The support guidance cited here does not establish current service health or confirm a Horizon 6-wide outage.
Write down the exact message or error code, whether you launch through Steam or the Xbox app, your Windows version, whether other titles connect, and what happens during the checks below. That information helps distinguish a game-specific problem from Windows networking, Xbox services, or an account restriction.
Check Windows network status and Teredo
In Windows, open Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking if that page is available in your Windows version. Look for a blocked server-connectivity status or a Teredo warning such as “Teredo is Unable to Qualify.” Forza’s general multiplayer guide points players with these problems to Microsoft’s Xbox networking help rather than recommending improvised firewall or registry edits. Follow the current Xbox instructions for the diagnostic result you see.

Forza also identifies network error 0x89235108 in its general connection guidance. The code and Teredo checks are useful clues, not an exhaustive list of Horizon 6 errors or proof of one specific cause. See Forza’s multiplayer server connectivity guide.
Try the low-risk Windows and router resets
- Restart the PC. This clears transient Windows or Xbox app state without changing saved game data.
- Reset the network adapter. Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings, disable the active Ethernet adapter, then enable it again. If you use Wi-Fi, reconnect to the network instead; Forza’s adapter instruction specifically names Ethernet.
- Power-cycle the modem and router. Turn the network equipment off, wait briefly, then turn it back on and allow it to reconnect before testing the game again.
These are troubleshooting steps, not proof that the router or adapter is the cause. Avoid buying hardware or changing DNS, VPN, or port-forwarding settings as a first response; the cited guidance does not establish those purchases or changes as universal fixes.

Refresh Xbox app identity and gaming services only if needed
If basic network checks do not help and the symptoms suggest an Xbox app sign-in or service issue, Forza’s Windows guidance includes these more involved steps. Close affected apps first, and do not delete unrelated folders or saved game data.
- Remove the Xbox Identity Provider token cache folders, if present. Open File Explorer and enter
%LOCALAPPDATA%Packagesin the address bar. Locate the Xbox Identity Provider package folder, then remove only itsACTokenBrokerAccountsandACTokenBrokerCachefolders if they exist. - Clear saved Xbl credentials. Open Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials and remove saved credentials whose names begin with
Xbl. You may need to sign back into other applications afterward. This step concerns saved sign-in credentials; it is not an instruction to delete game saves. - Restart Xbox services. Press
Win + R, enterservices.msc, and restart Xbox Live Network Service, Xbox Live Game Save, and Xbox Live Auth Manager if they are listed. - Restart Windows, sign back into the relevant Xbox or Microsoft apps if prompted, and try connecting again.
Forza’s guide describes these as Windows troubleshooting options; if a named folder or service is absent, do not substitute a similarly named unrelated item. Consult the official Forza steps if you need the source procedure.

Check account permissions for the specific convoy-change message
If the exact message says matchmaking was cancelled because your Horizon Convoy changed, review Microsoft account privacy and parental-control permissions, especially on a child or family account. Forza’s guidance for that named message recommends allowing multiplayer and cross-network play. Its convoy section explicitly refers to Horizon 5, however, so treat this as a relevant account check—not a verified explanation for every Horizon 6 connection failure.

If you still cannot join, submit a Forza support request or contact Xbox or Windows support. Include the exact error text or code, your storefront (Steam or Xbox app), Windows version, whether other online titles work, and the result of the Xbox network check. This is more useful than changing several advanced network settings at once, which can make the original cause harder to identify.

The official Xbox game page lists Windows 10/11 among the platforms for Forza Horizon 6, while Steam lists a broadband Internet connection as a requirement. Neither source establishes that a graphics driver, PC performance problem, or a particular connection speed is the cause of a server-connection error. Playground Games’ May 22, 2026 update discusses PC performance, audio, crashes, loading, and graphics drivers, but does not identify those topics as multiplayer connection fixes.
