Spoilers: This guide covers the finale at the Charred Conclave, its major choices, and the prerequisites for the Life Spindle route. Your decision there determines Arthur’s fate and the final confrontation; earlier choices can also affect which people are available to receive his soul. Details below reflect walkthroughs current through August 9, 2026. Ending slides and quests have been patched, so exact results may vary by game version.
What changes at the Charred Conclave?
The finale asks what should happen to Arthur’s soul. The main routes are to use the Life Spindle, follow Orrin, side with Caradoc, keep the soul and claim power, or give the soul to another person. These choices affect Arthur’s fate, who rules Avalon, and the final fight. Earlier decisions determine which recipient options are available.
| Route | Arthur and Avalon | Final confrontation | Secret checklist |
|---|---|---|---|
| Use the Life Spindle | The Wyrdness is tamed; this is described as the positive outcome by the BrokenBuilds walkthrough, not an official ranking. | Fight Caradoc. | Yes: three Weaver locations and five knight tombs. |
| Follow Orrin | Arthur is restored and rules Avalon; the player’s journey ends in sacrifice. | Defeat Caradoc. | No. |
| Follow Caradoc | Arthur’s resurrection cycle ends and the throne is left vacant. | Fight Arthur with Caradoc alongside you. | No. |
| Keep the soul and claim power | The player ascends to rule; the kingdom’s future is uncertain. | Fight both Caradoc and Arthur. | No. |
| Give the soul to another person | The recipient’s epilogue determines Avalon’s political or supernatural future. | Varies by choice; the walkthroughs do not establish one sequence for every recipient. | No. |
How to unlock the Life Spindle ending
The Life Spindle option is hidden. Complete all three Weaver areas and all five knight tombs, then obtain and use the Fore-Dweller Life Spindle in the final choice. BrokenBuilds advises speaking with the Weaver and exhausting dialogue in the relevant areas; VGTimes also confirms the three-location, five-tomb checklist.
Visit all three Weaver locations
- Horns of the South: Progress the main story and remove Excalibur’s barrier to reach the area. VGTimes places the opened passage near Archspire.
- Cuanacht: Obtain Arthur’s Shield, also called the Shield of Palamedes, and complete the first Weaver area to access this one.
- Forlorn Swords: After completing the earlier areas, find the Weaver’s Sanctum behind a waterfall. Defeat its boss to obtain the Life Spindle.
Open all five knight tombs
- Sir Lancelot: On the starting island; opens with Excalibur.
- Sir Gawain and Sir Dagonet: In Cuanacht; use the Shield of Palamedes.
- Two additional tombs: In northeastern Forlorn Swords; use the Crown.
Choose the spindle at the finale
Once the Weaver areas and tombs are complete and you have the spindle, return to the Charred Conclave and select the Life Spindle option. The walkthroughs describe a fight with Caradoc on this route.

Why results may differ between versions
Questline and Awaken Realms have published fixes for endgame slides, including incorrect slides after the Children of Morrigan questline and the choice to kill Self, as well as other quest and ending issues such as duplicate soul handoffs. The consulted guides do not establish that every detail has been retested against the current build. Check the in-game choice and epilogue wording if it differs from a walkthrough. Official announcements and patch notes are available on Steam’s Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon announcements page.
