Jason Jones, Bungie co-founder associated with Halo and Destiny, has co-founded Stone Kite with author Margaret Stohl, who serves as CEO. Launched October 1, 2026, the Santa Monica studio’s first project is One Zero One, a four-part comic series about an AI-driven robot war—not a new Halo or Destiny game.
What is Jason Jones’s new studio?
Stone Kite describes itself as a world-building studio that develops stories across media. Its stated aim is to bring creators from different disciplines together at the start, shaping an interconnected fictional world rather than beginning with one format and adapting it later. That is the studio’s approach and ambition, not an established or proven industry model. In launch coverage, CEO and co-founder Margaret Stohl said: “Instead of starting in one medium and adapting outward, we bring the best global creators from different disciplines into the room from day one to shape the world together.” Game Informer’s October 1, 2026 launch report covers the announcement and expansion plans.

Jones has described the project as a chance to pursue writing alongside his game-making career: “I’ve spent my whole life making games, but I’ve always wanted to write.” Stone Kite is a newly announced studio and original property; the announcement does not make One Zero One a continuation of either franchise.
What is One Zero One?
One Zero One is a near-future science-fiction story in which humanity faces extinction from an army of AI-driven robotic soldiers. The property is adapted from Jones’s manuscript, An Oral History of Humanity’s Final Invention. Stone Kite’s project page describes the premise and comic, while the studio homepage sets out its broader cross-media approach.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
Stone Kite’s launch distinguishes the project from Jones’s prior franchise work: its first property is an original science-fiction world arriving as a comic. The studio says it intends to develop the setting across media, but that ambition should not be read as confirmation of a specific game, adaptation, or release date.
