Spoilers: For the Goldleaf Merchant investigation in Crimson Desert, choose the five evidence items below when Shakatu asks about the suspects in Close Threat. The traitor is Grimzle, but you must still capture him and bring him back to Shakatu to finish the quest.
What evidence should you choose for each suspect?

Where do you investigate the five guild members?
The investigation concerns bandit attacks on Goldleaf trade routes and the suspicion that someone inside the guild is helping the bandits. The Games Wiki’s Goldleaf Merchant Guild quest-line guide places the suspects at these stops:

- Skrav: Goldleaf Tradepost
- Kathan: near Unicorn Cliff
- Blique: Bloomwood Ranch
- Grimzle: Coalvale Workshop
At each stop, talk to the suspect and inspect the nearby clues. The correct selection is only one item among the clues at that location: Nogle’s area also has a Broken Barrel and Fee Notice; the guide likewise lists two additional clues at each of Skrav’s, Kathan’s, Blique’s and Grimzle’s locations. Gather the evidence before returning to Shakatu.
How do you finish Close Threat after naming Grimzle?
- Return to Shakatu at the Goldleaf Guildhouse and submit the five evidence choices.
- After Shakatu names Grimzle, go to Coalvale Workshop. PC Gamer describes the destination as a ranch east of the Guildhouse.
- Subdue Grimzle and tie him up.
- Carry him back on horseback and surrender him to Shakatu at the Guildhouse.
The evidence choices answer the investigation prompt; they do not complete the quest on their own. The capture and delivery are the remaining objective, as detailed in PC Gamer’s walkthrough and the companion quest guide.

Can you retry a wrong evidence choice?
The Games Wiki reports that a wrong evidence submission can be retried without penalty. If a choice is marked incorrect, try another clue rather than restarting the quest chain.

Reward attribution depends on whether a guide is listing the Close Threat step or the broader Extinguishing the Last Flames chain. The Games Wiki lists 100 Hernand Contribution XP for Close Threat, and lists the Hernandian Banquet Cloak and Kinetic Counterweight for the broader chain. The companion quest guide also lists the cloak and counterweight among the chain rewards. These are guide-reported listings, not a guarantee that every reward is granted specifically at the investigation step.

PC Gamer’s answer guide is dated March 23, 2026. The companion quest page says it was last updated in March 2026; the Games Wiki displays an update date of June 8 without a year. Quest details and rewards may change in later game updates.
