World of Warcraft: Midnight is a modern WoW expansion sold in Base, Heroic, and Epic editions. World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate upcoming experience scheduled to launch November 4, 2026; access is included with an active WoW Subscription or Game Time, while its Skyborne packs and Collection are optional upgrades. This guide compares what each option includes, what it does not, and what to compare before choosing a release.
First decide which Warcraft release you mean
Midnight and Forever are not tiers of the same purchase. Midnight is an expansion purchase with three digital editions. Forever uses a different access model: an active WoW Subscription or Game Time includes access when it launches, and players can optionally buy upgrade bundles for extra features and items. Blizzard says Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST; its access announcement is available from Blizzard.
That distinction changes the main buying question. For Midnight, compare the expansion editions and remember that a subscription or Game Time is separately required. For Forever, first check that your subscription or Game Time covers access; then decide whether an optional pack’s extras are worth buying.
Compare the Midnight digital editions
Blizzard’s edition descriptions establish the following contents. Trader’s Tender figures are each edition’s total, not an additional amount to add to the tier below.

Compare the optional Forever upgrades
Forever’s Heroic and Epic names refer to optional upgrade packs, not a replacement for the subscription or Game Time access requirement. The Collection adds further content to the Epic benefits.

The Forever beta is listed for September 17 through October 21, 2026. Because that window is dated and the release is scheduled for November 4, check Blizzard’s current product terms for whether beta access is still usable when you buy. Check ongoing access and game-version restrictions
Subscription and Game Time
Buying Midnight does not include future expansions, and a WoW Subscription or Game Time is required to play. Forever access is included with an active subscription or Game Time at launch. Its Epic Pack and Collection each include 30 days of Game Time starting at launch; continued play after those 30 days requires a subscription or additional Game Time.

Modern WoW versus WoW Classic
Midnight’s boost and in-game items are not available in WoW Classic. Forever bundle items are also unavailable in Classic. Forever housing decor is for Housing in modern WoW, which requires Midnight. Blizzard lists the access and item restrictions on the Forever product page and the Midnight product page.
Upgrades and account entitlements
If your account has already unlocked items from a Midnight edition, upgrading does not grant those items again. Check the account’s existing entitlements before paying for an upgrade.

Decide whether the physical Collector’s Edition is for you
The Forever Collector’s Edition is a separate physical-product choice, not a required way to access the game. Blizzard describes it as physical keepsakes plus a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection, sold through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last. Consider it if the physical items matter to you and the store’s availability and shipping work for your region. The announcement does not establish current stock or availability through other retailers; see Blizzard’s Collector’s Edition announcement.
Verify price, region, and timing before purchase
The official edition pages establish package contents and offer dates, but they do not provide a reliable region-by-region price comparison here. Check the local Battle.net Shop for the price, currency, eligibility, and current availability in your region. In particular, verify whether limited-time or time-sensitive benefits—such as the Forever Collection offer, beta access, early access, name reservation, or invite codes—remain available under the terms shown at checkout.
