Why gentle handling matters for this set
PlayStation’s 2026 announcement describes a 1,911-piece model of the original console and controller. The assembled console is 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide. Its details include removable game dioramas, functional Power and Open buttons, and a controller that plugs into the console; the US listing identifies it as an 18+ set. Those features make it sensible to stabilize the model and avoid unnecessary pressure while cleaning. The official product information does not identify specific fragile zones or provide a model-specific dusting procedure.
How to dust the assembled model
- Stabilize it first. Set the model on a level, steady surface before touching it. If you need to move it, support its broad structure rather than lifting it by a small decorative piece.
- Brush lightly. Use a clean, very soft brush on accessible surfaces. Keep strokes gentle; do not force bristles into narrow gaps or hook small details.
- Work around loose or detachable parts. If an element feels loose, avoid brushing across it. Do not press on the buttons, plug connection, or diorama attachments.
- Use a cloth only where it makes sense. A soft cloth may suit broad, accessible surfaces, but avoid rubbing it over small details. LEGO recommends a soft cloth or sponge for hand-cleaning pieces; that advice does not specifically prescribe wiping dust from an assembled display.
The brush routine is conservative general guidance, not a LEGO-approved method for this model. If dust is lodged in an inaccessible crevice, leaving it there is safer than forcing a tool into the gap. The official LEGO care guidance reviewed does not endorse compressed air, vacuuming, cleaning gel, adhesive putty, household sprays, polish, or disinfectants for this model.
If the model needs more than dry dusting
LEGO’s cleaning instructions are for LEGO pieces: hand-clean with water no hotter than 104°F (40°C) and a soft cloth or sponge. Mild detergent may be added, followed by a rinse with clear water. For electronic components or sensitive pieces containing metal, LEGO advises using a cloth moistened with water and mild detergent without perfume or oil.

- Do not wash pieces in a washing machine or dishwasher.
- Do not dry pieces in an oven, microwave, or hair dryer; LEGO warns that high heat can change brick shape.
- Do not leave pieces in direct sunlight to dry.
Open display or display case?
An open display gives convenient access to the model but leaves it exposed to dust and means periodic gentle dusting. An enclosed case can reduce direct dust exposure, but it adds a fit and access consideration. These are practical trade-offs, not tested performance claims about any particular case.

LEGO’s storage guidance recommends a dry location away from heat and direct sunlight. It says storage above 104°F (40°C) may make bricks brittle or cause discoloration over time. LEGO also lists minifigure display cases among storage ideas, but does not recommend a particular case for this PlayStation set or say that any case is dust-proof.
