The Mobapad M12 Pro stands apart by attaching split controls to the Switch 2 for handheld play; the 8BitDo Pro 3 is a more conventional one-piece controller with broader platform support. Choose by form factor and the features you need—not by unverified claims about comfort, latency, or input quality. MOBAPAD advertises Switch 2 wake, C-button, and mouse functionality for the M12 Pro, but those capabilities have not been independently verified here.
What is the main difference?
The M12 Pro is a split, Joy-Con-style controller that attaches to the console. The 8BitDo Pro 3 and Pro 2 are one-piece pads for tabletop or TV play. Nintendo’s original Switch Pro Controller is another one-piece baseline: Nintendo says it works wirelessly with Switch 2 and can charge from the console dock over USB.
| Controller | Format | Notable connection options | Compatibility and notable caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| MOBAPAD M12 Pro | Attached split controller | Bluetooth or wired; Bluetooth 5.3, according to MOBAPAD | MOBAPAD describes it as designed for Switch 2 and says it supports wake, C button, and mouse functionality. These claims have not been independently verified. |
| 8BitDo Pro 3 | One-piece pad | Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz, or wired for Switch, according to 8BitDo | 8BitDo lists Switch 1 and 2, Windows, Apple devices, SteamOS, and Android compatibility. |
| 8BitDo Pro 2 | One-piece pad | Bluetooth 4.0 or USB-C, according to 8BitDo | 8BitDo lists Switch 2 support on system version 20.1.1 or above; on Switch compatibility, it says HD Rumble and amiibo scanning are unsupported. |
| Nintendo Switch Pro Controller | One-piece first-party pad | Wireless; USB charging from the Switch 2 dock | Nintendo lists it as compatible with Switch 2. |
These are manufacturer and platform-owner compatibility statements, not independent comparative tests. Nintendo also cautions that some older Switch games may not be fully compatible with Switch 2 because of hardware changes; that warning concerns games and does not establish that third-party controllers share identical compatibility.
What Switch 2 features does MOBAPAD claim for the M12 Pro?
MOBAPAD’s product FAQ says the M12 Pro supports native Switch 2 wake functionality, the C button, and mouse functionality. The FAQ points users to the latest manual and firmware guidance for mouse-mode operation and supported scenarios. Treat these as maker claims: the available information does not establish how mouse controls behave in particular games or verify every feature on a retail unit.

- 【Hall Effect Anti-Drift】Dual Hall effect joysticks use magnetic sensing with no mechanical contact — zero stick drift, zero dead zones, no recalibration over the life of the controller. The 6-axis gyroscope adds tilt-based motion aiming for shooters and motion-controlled titles, giving you a second layer of precision beyond stick input alone.
- 【Silent Buttons, 20-Hour Battery】Membrane switches replace clicky contacts, keeping press noise low enough for late-night gaming in a dorm room, shared apartment, or next to someone sleeping. The 800 mAh battery runs up to 20 hours per charge — one charge covers a full weekend. Ergonomic contoured grips keep your hands comfortable through every hour of it.
- 【Wireless or Wired, Your Call】Connect wirelessly to Switch, PC, or phone for cable-free play, or plug in over USB-C when you want zero-delay input for competitive games. One controller works across Switch, Switch 2, Windows PC, and Android — no extra adapters needed.
- 【Retro Look, Fighting-Ready D-Pad】A classic two-tone gray shell with four-color ABXY buttons and customizable RGB lighting — clean enough for a desk setup, bold enough for a convention. The optimized D-pad delivers precise directional inputs and reliable combo execution for fighting games, retro platformers, and side-scrollers.
- 【Back Buttons, Macro, Turbo & APP】Two rear buttons and a dedicated M key map to any input — dodge, reload, or full macro sequences without lifting your thumbs. Turbo mode adds rapid-fire to any button. Adjustable dual vibration lets you dial rumble up or down per game. The free companion app controls it all: remap buttons, set stick dead zones, tune vibration, adjust turbo speed, and customize RGB — saved as per-game profiles.
For a buyer who wants attached controls and considers those Switch 2 functions important, the M12 Pro is the relevant product to investigate. The Pro 3 is the clearer fit if a one-piece pad is preferred; its listed feature set includes motion control for Switch and vibration, but the supplied 8BitDo page does not claim the M12 Pro’s specific wake, C-button, or mouse functions.

8BitDo Pro 2
The Pro 2 has Hall Effect sticks, two back paddles, three profiles, and motion control for Switch, according to 8BitDo. The maker states a 20-hour battery life, but the cited product information does not specify a comparable vibration condition. Its explicit Switch caveat matters if HD Rumble or amiibo scanning is part of your setup: 8BitDo says neither is supported on Switch.
Which controller fits your setup?
- Choose the M12 Pro as the one to investigate if you want an attached split controller for handheld play and value the Switch 2 functions MOBAPAD advertises. Its manufacturer listing also offers optional MA21 Grip and H12 Carrying Case bundles; MOBAPAD says those accessories work with M12 Pro, M12 HD, and M12 S.
- Consider the Pro 3 if you want a conventional pad, play across several listed platforms, and value remappable controls, wireless connection choices, and a charging dock.
- Consider the Pro 2 conditionally if its multi-platform format and back paddles appeal, but confirm your Switch 2 system is version 20.1.1 or later and account for the stated lack of HD Rumble and amiibo scanning on Switch.
- Use Nintendo’s Switch Pro Controller as a first-party baseline if you want a traditional pad and prefer Nintendo’s stated Switch 2 compatibility and dock charging.
There is not enough independent testing in the available evidence to rank these controllers for comfort, latency, stick accuracy, reliability, or battery life under matched conditions. MOBAPAD’s page showed no customer reviews, so a recommendation for the M12 Pro should remain conditional rather than treating its feature list as proof of real-world performance.

Is the Mobapad M12 Pro worth it?
It may be worth considering if attached split controls are the deciding feature and MOBAPAD’s advertised Switch 2 functions match your needs. If you want a one-piece controller, the Pro 3 is the more direct third-party alternative in this comparison, while the Pro 2 requires attention to its system-version and feature caveats. The M12 Pro’s listed stock status and unverified real-world behavior are material reasons to check availability and wait for independent retail-unit testing before treating it as a proven buy.
