A free Steam demo was reported playable ahead of the game’s planned October 26, 2026 Early Access launch, though demo availability can change. Its cozy routines invite an Animal Crossing comparison, but PAO PAO is a separate game—not an official spin-off or a claim of identical gameplay.
What is PAO PAO?
Developed by ArtDock and published by Dreland Enterprises, PAO PAO is set in a seaside town where players run a restaurant and spend time outside work exploring, fishing, growing crops, gathering resources, and customizing their character and surroundings. Steam also describes changing weather, seasons, a day-night cycle, and interactions with town residents. Steam’s PAO PAO listing is the source for the game’s feature and release information.
The Animal Crossing comparison is best understood as a shorthand for relaxed town life, customization, and everyday activities. PAO PAO adds a restaurant-management loop and specifically lists online co-op for up to four players. The available listing does not establish a connection to Nintendo or Animal Crossing.
How does four-player co-op work?
Steam says PAO PAO can be played solo or with up to four players online. Friends can work together on the restaurant, while the town activities allow players to explore separately or spend leisure time together. Listed group activities include boat races, basketball, and water-gun play. Steam identifies the multiplayer mode as Online Co-op; the listing does not establish local couch co-op.

Can you play the free demo now?
Tech Times reported on September 19, 2026 that a free Steam demo was playable before launch, with access to restaurant play, town exploration, and co-op. That report is a dated snapshot, so check the Steam listing for the demo’s current status. Steam’s statement that the full game was not yet available does not, by itself, confirm whether its separate demo remains available.
When does PAO PAO launch?
Steam lists October 26, 2026 as the planned Early Access release date. As of October 4, 2026, the store page said the full game was not yet available. The date is planned rather than a guarantee, so check the listing for any change.

What to expect from Early Access
The developer says the current build is playable solo or with up to four players and includes restaurant management, cooking and serving, town exploration, crops, fishing, gathering, NPC interaction, customization, and progression. Steam’s Early Access description says the core loop is playable, while content variety, balance, and progression depth are still being refined.
The developer estimates Early Access will last roughly six to twelve months, an approximate timeline that may change with development progress and player feedback. Planned additions include more character progression and customization, areas and activities, deeper cooking, customer service, fishing and gardening systems, town progression, NPC interactions, and seasonal activities. Steam cautions that these plans may change. The developer currently says it does not plan to change the price when the game leaves Early Access.
