When did Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 release?
Larian announced the PC release on September 5, 2024. The studio said the patch was rolling out to Mac and console players on October 1, 2024, so the platforms did not receive it simultaneously.
That staggered timing mattered for saves. During the rollout, a PC save updated to Patch 7 could not be loaded on a console still running a different game version. Larian also said cross-play was still in development at the time; that statement describes the 2024 rollout, not the game’s current status.
What did Patch 7 add and change?
New cinematic endings for evil playthroughs
Larian added 13 cinematics showing different conclusions for evil playthroughs. Their visibility is governed by the in-game “Show Sexual and Violent Cinematics” setting. Larian said this setting also blocks sexual content with nudity and certain particularly violent scenes; it does not change available adventure choices or access to romance.

Honour Mode combat changes
The update introduced new Legendary Actions and combat adjustments for enemies including Dror Ragzlin, the Bulette, Malus Thorm and Spectators. Players could also choose Honour Mode mechanics for a Custom Mode game through the Ruleset dropdown, rather than having to start an Honour Mode run to use those rules.
Split-screen changes
In split-screen play, the two views merge when characters approach each other and separate as they move apart. Larian also included other split-screen improvements.
Gameplay fixes and broader patch notes
The detailed notes cover gameplay and AI pathfinding, combat, level design, cinematics, the user interface, multiplayer, split-screen, character creation, localization and bug fixes. The notes describe specific changes; they do not promise that every issue was resolved or that the game became bug-free.

How did official mod support work?
Patch 7 introduced an in-game Mod Manager for supported mods, as well as a Toolkit for creating mods. These are distinct: players can use the manager to find and install supported mods, while the Toolkit is a creator tool.

Larian’s support FAQ says the Toolkit requires a 64-bit PC and is not available on Mac or console. Supported mod use was not limited in the same way: for a modded cross-platform save to work, the relevant supported mod needs to be available on both platforms. During the rollout, a difference in game versions could still prevent a cross-save from loading.
Larian warned that some third-party mods might become incompatible after Patch 7. A mod that stopped working after the update might need an update from its creator; official mod support did not guarantee compatibility for every existing third-party mod.

How large was the Patch 7 download?
In its September 5, 2024 announcement, Larian listed an approximately 11.6 GB download for PC and said installation required 160 GB of free space. These are the studio’s release figures for that 2024 update, not current storage requirements for Baldur’s Gate 3 or a measurement of the patch’s installed size.
Where does Patch 7 fit in the update timeline?
Patch 7 was a substantial 2024 update, but it was not the end of the game’s major updates. Larian’s official update history identifies Patch 8, dated April 15, 2025, as the final major update. The history also lists subsequent hotfixes through Hotfix 36 in March 2026.
