Guides published in February 2026 describe seven Fish Ruin locations across Ocean or Forgotten Deep, Ancient Sands, and Spirit Roots, but they disagree about how the Ocean and Forgotten Deep sites are classified. Use the landmarks below as guide-reported routes, not a confirmed inventory of the live game: the game’s current ruin list was not independently verified after later updates.
Where are the Fish Ruins?
The February 2026 guides agree on two Ancient Sands ruins and three Spirit Roots ruins. Their Ocean-area directions differ: Beebom counts two Ocean ruins, while TechWiser describes one Forgotten Deep ruin and one Ocean ruin. Follow the in-game map and local landmarks if a route or zone label does not match what you see.
Ocean and Forgotten Deep
- Behind Virelia: Beebom places one ruin on a rock structure behind Virelia. TechWiser’s separate Forgotten Deep route says to enter to the left of Virelia and continue straight. These may refer to different sites or reflect different zone terminology; the guides do not resolve the discrepancy.
- Between Scientist and Lost Captain: Beebom places its second Ocean ruin midway between these landmarks at a depth greater than 200 m.
- Scientist-side route: TechWiser instead labels one ruin as Ocean and directs players to travel right from Scientist, pass an underwater plateau, and descend to 120 m. Do not treat this as the same location or depth as Beebom’s deeper site.
Ancient Sands
- Suspicious Fisher: The guides place one ruin on a rock tower or plateau behind or near Suspicious Fisher. TechWiser’s route starts at Crazy Jeff’s Store: turn left toward Marcus, then ascend about 100 m to the bridge and the nearby site.
- Grumpy Hank: The other ruin is on a plateau by Grumpy Hank’s tower. From Crazy Jeff’s Store, TechWiser directs players right, then left toward the tower and onward to the plateau on its left.
Spirit Roots
- Isaac’s safety dome: Beebom places one ruin on top of the dome in front of Isaac. TechWiser describes reaching Isaac at around 342 m after leaving Spirit Root Hollow.
- Tunnel below Isaac: Beebom says the second ruin is in the tunnel beneath Isaac. TechWiser describes a cave ruin at a fork; the route details do not fully align, so use the fork and nearby landmarks as you explore.
- King Cat-side cave: Beebom places the third ruin inside the Spirit Root cave east of Golem, just before the King Cat entrance. TechWiser puts the final ruin near the King Cat secret entrance at around 500 m and recommends a Plane Tube or better for that trip.
Which NPC quests give the keys?
The February 2026 guides list six NPC quest rewards across the named key groups. The table preserves TechWiser’s regional grouping; both sources report the quest milestones, but do not establish whether later updates changed them.
| Key group in the guides | NPC | Quest milestone |
|---|---|---|
| Forgotten/Ocean | Kraken | Quest 5 |
| Forgotten/Ocean | Mr. Black | Quest 8 |
| Ancient Sands | Marcus | Quest 5 |
| Ancient Sands | Grumpy Hank | Quest 4 |
| Spirit Roots | Victor | Quests 4 and 7; TechWiser says each milestone gives a key |
| Spirit Roots | Golem | Quest 2 |
For a dedicated ruin run, check the relevant NPC quest progress first and collect the region’s key before heading out. The guides do not identify a verified current key count beyond these listed rewards.

What do the ruins and the all-ruins quest reward?
The guides report cash, Star Shards, Oxygen Pods, potions, and XP from ruin chests; neither supplies reliable quantities or drop rates, so these should not be read as guaranteed amounts.
Beebom says the Crab NPC offers a quest to open all seven ruins after you deliver a scroll. It reports a Crab Claw artifact among the quest rewards, along with Star Shards, Oxygen Pods, and potions. Beebom also says opened chest rewards cannot be reclaimed.

How should you plan the route?
- Secure the relevant NPC key before setting out, especially if you are making a trip to a deeper site.
- Prepare for the depth your route requires. Beebom’s second Ocean site is deeper than 200 m; TechWiser’s King Cat-side Spirit Roots route is around 500 m and calls for a Plane Tube or better.
- Use the named landmarks and the in-game map to confirm your position. The Ocean/Forgotten Deep classification and some Spirit Roots cave directions are inconsistent between the guides.
- Do not plan around a guaranteed chest payout or a supposedly optimal order: the guides do not establish loot quantities, comparative XP efficiency, or a best route order.
How current is this location list?
Beebom’s guide is dated February 12, 2026; TechWiser’s is dated February 15, with an update note for February 14. A zone overview reviewed May 9, 2026 includes Sunken Wilds, and Game8’s search excerpt says its ruin coverage stopped after the Jungle update. No official patch note or live game source in the available material confirms the current complete ruin inventory, so the February count should be treated as a guide-reported snapshot rather than a definitive live total.
