IGN’s January 14, 2025 report named several games allegedly headed to Nintendo Switch 2, but it was a rumor roundup—not a confirmed release slate. It attributed some claims to leaker Nate the Hate and separately identified other games as IGN’s own speculation. The report warned that the claims could change or be debunked.

What the January 2025 report said

Wesley Yin-Poole’s IGN report, published January 14, 2025, appeared before Nintendo had officially revealed Switch 2. It followed reports about the console’s reveal plans. The article said Nate the Hate speculated that a new Mario Kart might launch alongside the console in May or June, followed by a 3D Mario during the 2025 holiday season. Those were forecasts, not confirmed dates.

The report distinguished claims attributed to Nate the Hate from IGN’s own informed speculation. Keeping those categories separate matters: the article did not present every game it mentioned as a leak from the same source.

The release windows below are the ones described in the January 2025 report; where it gave no window, none is inferred here.

Games IGN separately speculated might come to Switch 2

IGN also suggested that games already announced for the original Switch might reach its successor. It named Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam as examples. The article framed these as IGN’s informed speculation, not as Nate the Hate leaks.

What this list can—and cannot—tell you

This is a snapshot of what one article reported on January 14, 2025, when Switch 2 had not yet been officially revealed. The report does not establish the later status of each game, including whether it was announced for Switch 2, canceled, delayed, released, or left unverified. It should not be used as a current platform or release-date guide.

For any individual title, check a current announcement from its publisher or developer before treating Switch 2 support or a date as confirmed. A game’s appearance in this rumor roundup is not evidence that it eventually came to the console.
