No aircraft is confirmed to unlock skins faster in ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE. The efficient choice depends on what you want to progress: use a plane that fits campaign objectives to earn MRP, or play ACE COMBAT ONLINE to earn ACE PASS XP for online reward tracks. Aircraft leveling improves online stats and unlocks abilities, but Bandai Namco does not say it unlocks skins.
Which aircraft is best for unlocking skins?
There is no evidence-backed fastest aircraft for skin unlocks. The official progression details describe separate campaign and online reward systems, but do not publish aircraft-by-aircraft skin unlock rates, XP per sortie, or a best plane for repeating missions.

For campaign missions, choose an aircraft suited to the objective and your playstyle, as Bandai Namco advises in its walkthrough. For online cosmetics, play ACE COMBAT ONLINE missions and advance the ACE PASS reward track. Your best practical choice is the aircraft you can use consistently in the relevant mode—not a purported skin-grinding specialist.
How campaign progression works
Campaign missions award MRP, which you spend to unlock aircraft in the Aircraft Tree. You can also upgrade aircraft using freely combined parts. Earn MRP at a reliable pace
PowerPyx’s launch-period guide reports that destroying targets earns MRP, with difficulty multipliers ranging from x0.8 on Casual to x1.5 on Ace. Those are the guide’s reported figures, not official publisher specifications. Choose the hardest difficulty on which you can reliably finish missions and destroy targets: a higher multiplier is useful only if you can complete the sortie consistently. The guide does not show that using a particular aircraft increases skin unlock speed.
PowerPyx also reports 25,000,000 MRP for a full Aircraft Tree trophy objective and estimates 150 hours or more for platinum completion. These are guide figures for those completion goals, not official statistics or requirements for unlocking skins.

How online skin rewards work
ACE COMBAT ONLINE has progression and save data separate from Campaign Mode. Aircraft must be earned in online mode, and online missions award ACE PASS XP; a campaign aircraft unlock does not automatically become online progression. Bandai Namco explains the separation in its multiplayer, co-op and PvP FAQ.
Bandai Namco’s Season One announcement lists 12 aircraft skins on the Free Ace Pass and 13 additional aircraft skins on the Premium track. These are Season One reward counts, not a permanent total; check the current in-game pass for its available rewards. The same announcement lists the ADFX-02 Morgan-PIXY as a Premium-track playable aircraft reward, which is distinct from a skin. See Bandai Namco’s Season One announcement.

Seasons are time-limited: Bandai Namco’s official ACE COMBAT Online page states, “Each Ace Pass season will last two months.” Aircraft levels gained from surviving online sorties improve stats and unlock abilities. The page treats customization—skins, emblems and weathering—separately and does not state that leveling an aircraft unlocks skins.

Some cosmetics are edition bonuses rather than rewards earned by grinding. Bandai Namco says the Deluxe cosmetic set includes the F-4E “MOBIUS SQUADRON” and F/A-18C “TEAM ZVEZDA” skins. They can be used online, and campaign use is available after campaign completion. These are optional edition inclusions, not a faster universal unlock method.
