Repair Titanfall 2 through the launcher that owns your installation, then test the unmodded game before reinstalling or enabling any VR mod. Steam and the EA app have built-in repair tools; you do not need to guess which unfamiliar files to delete.

Steam
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Titanfall 2 and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files, then Verify integrity of game files.

EA app
- Open My Collection.
- Select the three-dot menu on the Titanfall 2 tile.

Origin
If you still use Origin, the Northstar troubleshooting guide lists the game-page gear menu followed by Repair. Client layouts can vary, so use the repair option for the installed copy rather than a different library entry. Northstar troubleshooting guide
What to do if Steam reports files that could not be verified
Steam notes that one or more files can fail verification because they are local configuration files that should not be replaced. That message alone does not prove the repair failed or that the game is still damaged. Let the check finish, then test the game. Steam: Verify Integrity of Game Files

Launcher verification checks the game files managed by that client; it does not promise to remove every third-party mod file. Test the standard game separately from Northstar or the VR mod
After repair, launch Titanfall 2 normally from its client. If you have configured Northstar launch options, its troubleshooting guide describes removing -northstar or using -nonorthstardll for a standard-game launch, depending on the launcher setup. If the standard game launches successfully and you still want VR, reinstall or re-enable the VR mod using that installer’s current official instructions. The specific installer’s file layout is not established here, so do not assume another mod’s folder names or cleanup steps apply.
If repair does not fix the problem
- Capture the exact error message and note whether the game is installed through Steam, the EA app, or Origin.
- Identify the VR installer or mod involved and whether you want to keep using it before attempting manual cleanup.
- If Northstar is the part that fails, consult its troubleshooting page. It notes that missing files such as
tier0.dllcan result from a wrong launcher location or missing or corrupted game files; check the named folder and verify the game files first. Northstar troubleshooting guide
Find the game folder if you need to check its location
Use the launcher to locate the installation instead of searching for or editing files blindly. Northstar documents Manage > Browse local files for Steam, and the Titanfall 2 tile menu followed by View Properties to inspect the install location in the EA app. Northstar troubleshooting guide

The EA app’s default Titanfall 2 folder may not be writable by non-admin processes, according to Northstar’s troubleshooting and installation guidance.
