To launch it, check the Director’s destinations or the Portal Ops tab; the Director’s placement can change. Inside, expect Vex traversal, module-and-terminal puzzles, combat arenas, and a multi-phase boss. Choir of One and its associated upgrades are possible Encore drops, but Bungie says they are not guaranteed.
Where to find and launch Encore
Bungie’s current activities page lists Encore among the available Exotic missions, which it describes as Pinnacle Ops. Look in the Director’s destinations or open the Portal Ops tab and check the listed activities. If Encore’s location has moved, use the Director’s current activity listings rather than relying on older menu directions. Bungie’s activities overview says Exotic missions can be found in destinations or Portal Ops and can be played by a fireteam of up to three players.

Encore debuted in Episode: Echoes Act III in August 2024. Older instructions that require buying Echoes or completing A Rising Chorus describe the original episode-era access path, not a confirmed requirement for the currently listed Portal activity. Bungie’s Act III announcement introduced the mission; its current activities listing is the better guide to where to find it now.
Prepare for the mission
Before launching, inspect the activity screen for its current difficulty and modifiers. These can vary by the version selected, so do not assume a loadout recommendation or old guide applies unchanged.
#1 Best Overall
- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
- Solo: Favor survivability, reliable ranged precision against Vex, and weapons or abilities that can clear groups. Use cover instead of lingering in the open while enemies pressure an objective.
- Fireteam: Coordinate who handles modules and objective interactions while others control incoming enemies. Splitting those jobs can make exposed interactions safer, but it is a practical approach rather than a tested performance guarantee.
- Damage planning: Keep heavy or other burst-damage options available for tougher enemies and the boss’s vulnerability windows rather than spending everything on routine adds.
These are broad recommendations from a third-party route guide, not a claim of firsthand testing or an optimal build. The guide identifies Hobgoblins, Minotaurs, Wyverns, and Hydras among threats that can punish exposed play. Shacknews’ Encore guide provides general route and combat guidance; follow the live activity’s cues if its layout or mechanics differ.
Encore walkthrough
1. Follow the opening Vex route
Move along the path through the opening traversal and deal with ranged Vex that can interrupt jumps or force you off a platform. Take a moment to identify the next safe landing before committing to a jump; clearing threats that can shoot across the route is often more useful than rushing ahead.
2. Use Vex modules to change the route
When the mission introduces Vex modules, look for the active pickup and carry it to the marked matching terminal. Depositing the right module opens or changes the route. Watch for illuminated conduits and platforms that activate after an interaction; those environmental changes point toward the next traversable section.
The guide describes this as the mission’s broad puzzle language, not a fixed code sequence. Read the room’s active indicators rather than searching for a universal solution or relying on unverified coordinates.

3. Clear threats before working on objectives
In combat rooms, prioritize dangerous enemies and nearby adds before stepping onto plates, approaching confluxes, entering portals, or interacting with other objective objects. Hobgoblins can pressure you at range, while Minotaurs, Wyverns, and Hydras make exposed positions risky. Use cover, thin out enemies, then complete the objective while watching for reinforcements.
4. Manage the boss encounter in phases
The finale alternates between waves of enemies, a mechanic that advances the boss out of immunity, and a damage window. Stay mobile during add waves, identify and complete the objective that changes the boss’s state, then spend your reserved damage while the boss is vulnerable. If the boss becomes immune again, return to controlling enemies and advancing the encounter mechanic instead of wasting ammunition.
Rank #4
- Shatter Fate: Alter the story of AMC’s The Walking Dead by weaving your own path through the series’ events. Save the villain, kill the hero… and live with the consequences.
- Slash, Bash, and Shoot the Undead: Slay hordes of walkers in third-person action with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, including bats, katanas, revolvers, shotguns, and crossbows.
- Build Your Dream Team: Assemble your roster from over twelve iconic characters from AMC’s The Walking Dead, including Rick, Shane, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, and more.
- Survive the Apocalypse: Manage limited resources, scavenge for weapons and ammo, and maximize your party’s abilities to stay alive.
- Experience the Tension: Defend your camp, rescue survivors, and fight through stealth and all-out combat. Get one last chance at survival in a “broken state” before the zombie threat overwhelms you.
This is spoiler-light route guidance drawn from a third-party guide rather than official Bungie mechanics documentation. Exact room order and interactions may vary by the selected activity version, so use the mission’s visible prompts and environmental cues as the authority.

When Encore launched, Bungie’s Community Team described the first-clear reward as a new Exotic weapon, Choir of One. Bungie also said the weapon was craftable and that players could unlock more perks and catalysts over the following weeks by continuing to explore Nessus’s core through Encore. Choir of One is a Void-dart-firing Exotic Auto Rifle that uses Special ammo. Bungie’s August 29, 2024 announcement is the source for that original reward and progression context.

For the post–Edge of Fate reward path, Bungie Help stated on August 29, 2025 that Choir of One and its associated upgrades are possible drops from Encore, but are not guaranteed, so multiple runs may be needed. Bungie’s statement does not give an exact drop rate, guaranteed run count, score requirement, or difficulty condition. Bungie Help’s item-collections article carries the current drop statement.
There is no official completion-time average or published drop percentage in these cited statements. Treat any precise odds or guaranteed-run claims from other sources as unverified unless Bungie publishes them.
