As of October 4, 2026, the original Pokémon Legends: Z-A is already available; it launched on October 16, 2025. The new preorder to watch is the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle, scheduled for release on October 29, 2026. Choose it if you want the Switch 2 game and expansion together; if you already own the game, compare the upgrade pack and DLC options before buying another copy.
Which edition should you buy?
| Your situation | Best-fit option | What to know |

| You have a Nintendo Switch 2 and want the game plus expansion | Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle | It includes the Switch 2 Edition and Mega Dimension DLC. The physical bundle puts both on one game card. The Pokémon Company announcement. |
| You already own the Nintendo Switch game and want to play the Switch 2 Edition | Buy the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack | Nintendo says owners of either a digital or physical Switch copy can purchase an upgrade pack. Its current regional price is not established here; check your local Nintendo eShop before comparing it with the bundle. The Pokémon Company release information. |
| You own the base game and only want the expansion | Mega Dimension DLC | The DLC requires a copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the system, loaded as a physical game card or virtual game card. Nintendo Support: Mega Dimension requirements. |
| You play on the original Nintendo Switch | The original Nintendo Switch game | The new bundle is identified as a Nintendo Switch 2 product. Do not assume the Switch 2 Edition bundle is the right version for original Switch hardware. The original game launched for both Switch and Switch 2. The Pokémon Company release information. |
What is included in the 2026 Switch 2 bundle?
The Pokémon Company says the bundle combines Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with the Mega Dimension DLC. Its physical release places the game and DLC on one game card. That makes it a straightforward choice for someone who wants both on Switch 2 and prefers a physical copy, but it may duplicate content if you already own the game or expansion.
Physical purchase bonus listed by Nintendo US
Nintendo of America’s US store listing says the physical bundle includes an insert with a code for 100 Ultra Balls. Treat this as a US listing’s stated purchase bonus, not a worldwide guarantee: check the specific retailer’s live listing, eligibility, and terms before ordering. The listing does not establish that digital purchases receive the bonus.
How to preorder the bundle
The bundle is scheduled for release on October 29, 2026, according to The Pokémon Company’s announcement and Nintendo’s US store listing. Preorder availability can vary by country and retailer, so confirm the live status rather than assuming a purchase page means preorders are open in your region.

- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
- Confirm your console. Make sure the listing is for Nintendo Switch 2 if you intend to buy this bundle.
- Choose physical or digital. Nintendo describes the physical bundle as game and DLC on one card; verify what the digital listing includes before checkout.
- Check the exact retailer page. Confirm it says “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension,” shows the October 29, 2026 scheduled release date, and is available to order in your country.
- Review seller and delivery details. Check the seller, shipping date, taxes, return terms, and whether the 100 Ultra Balls code is included under that listing’s terms.
- Compare against what you own. If you have the base game already, price the upgrade pack or DLC separately in your regional eShop before paying for the full bundle.
Local prices, shipping, taxes, retailer stock, and promotion eligibility are market-specific. Nintendo’s US listing should not be treated as proof of availability or pricing elsewhere.
What existing owners should check before buying
If you own the Nintendo Switch game
Nintendo’s release information says owners of a physical or digital Nintendo Switch copy can purchase an upgrade pack for the Switch 2 Edition. The cited current bundle page does not establish the upgrade pack’s price; check the current regional Nintendo eShop and compare the upgrade plus any DLC you want with the bundle price.

If you want Mega Dimension only
Buy the DLC only if you have access to the base game on the console where you will play. Nintendo Support specifies that the game must be loaded as a physical game card or virtual game card. Without the base game available, the DLC alone is not sufficient.

A Pokémon Center gift was announced for preorders of the original 2025 game, but that historical promotion does not show that the 2026 Switch 2 bundle has the same gift or that the offer remains active. For the new bundle, rely on the bonus terms shown on the retailer listing you are actually using.
