The rumor was right: Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase on February 5, 2026. It was a third-party-focused presentation for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games—not a general showcase of Nintendo’s own first-party lineup.
Was there a Nintendo Direct on February 5, 2026?
Yes. Nintendo confirmed the presentation and held it on the reported date. Nintendo’s official event page identifies it as the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase for February 5, 2026.
Before Nintendo’s confirmation, late-January reports said a Partner Showcase was planned for Thursday, February 5. VGC’s January 30 report attributed the date to Nate the Hate and GameXplain and said it matched information from VGC’s own sources. The date and format were still unconfirmed at that point; the later official broadcast established that the report was accurate.
What kind of Direct was it?
It was a Partner Showcase, centered on games from Nintendo’s publishing partners for Switch 2 and Switch. Nintendo’s pre-broadcast description said to tune in at 6 a.m. PT for “roughly 30 minutes” of information on upcoming games for those systems. That was Nintendo’s approximate runtime for the planned presentation.

That distinction matters: the event should not be treated as a general Nintendo Direct or as a promise of new first-party announcements. The official broadcast is the best record of what was actually shown.
