Use AION 2’s built-in skill macro for a short sequence of predictable actions, and keep decisions that depend on timing, targets, movement, or danger under your direct control. The macro described in current community guides tries skills in order while you hold its assigned key, then stops when you release it; it is a convenience for repeatable actions, not a hands-off combat system. Interface details can vary by region and patch.
How the built-in skill macro works
Current community guides describe a built-in macro configured from the Skill screen: add actions in the order you want them attempted, set step delays, assign a key, then hold that key to run the sequence. The macro cycles through listed skills from top to bottom and repeats while held; releasing the key stops it. A guide also reports a separate macro for each of the three skill presets, but this and other menu details should be checked in your live client because patches and regions can differ. Make one macro for one job rather than trying to automate an entire fight. For a first version, use only a few entries, bind it to a convenient key, and test it on a training dummy or a predictable target before taking it into content.
Choose actions that are safe to repeat
The best candidates are actions that are useful whenever available and do not require a fresh decision each time. Order matters: the macro attempts earlier entries first, so put the skill you most want to use at the top and a suitable lower-priority filler later. Then verify in practice that activations are not being skipped. These are general setup principles, not a tested class-specific rotation.

- Predictable chain steps whose conditions are usually met in the situation the macro is meant for.
- Simple filler actions that remain useful when higher-priority skills are unavailable.
A fixed sequence can fail when its assumptions change. A boss mechanic, target swap, loss of range, movement, or a buff window can make an otherwise sensible order wrong. Keep those choices manual rather than treating the macro as a substitute for watching the encounter.
Keep judgment-heavy and high-risk skills manual
Do not put an action in a repeated sequence if firing it at the wrong moment could waste an escape, miss an opportunity, or leave you exposed. The community guides specifically recommend manual control for:

- Positioning tools, reactive dodge or block abilities, and movement skills.

- PvP dashes, leaps, or other target- and situation-dependent actions.
In PvP, a mistimed escape or gap closer can decide whether you remain safe or give up control of the engagement. In PvE, the same kind of fixed action can be wasted by a mechanic or a range change. The practical test is simple: if you would normally pause to judge whether the skill is appropriate, leave it out of the loop.
Build separate expectations for PvE and PvP
Use a macro only for the repeatable part of a particular situation, and evaluate it separately in each mode. PvE routine farming or a predictable single-target encounter may support a short loop. PvP demands more manual control because defense, control effects, target choice, and movement often depend on what the opponent does.

NCSOFT said in its March 25, 2026 update that PvP and PvE damage calculations had been separated and that balance adjustments were made. That makes it especially unwise to assume the same sequence has the same value in both modes; the announcement does not give a macro recipe. NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 update.
Set delays by testing, not by copying a magic number
Community advice does not establish one optimal delay for every connection, skill, client, or region. A current guide describes differing approaches, including matching delay to ping and using a low value across steps; it recommends increasing delay if actions drop. Another guide gives a 10 ms minimum for the live region it discusses, while warning that this does not guarantee every action will activate cleanly. Do not treat that minimum as universal or assume the lowest setting is best. Check the client’s available settings, begin conservatively, and adjust only after observing the sequence.

Test the sequence and maintain it
- Define the job. Decide whether the macro is for routine farming or a narrow, predictable combat loop. Avoid adding skills that require reactions or timing judgment.
- Build a short sequence. In the live client’s Skill or macro editor, add the desired quick-slot actions in priority order, choose a delay, and assign a key. Menu names and configuration may differ by region or patch.
- Test in a controlled setting. Try the sequence on a training dummy or the same predictable target and build. Watch whether entries are skipped and whether the order behaves as intended.
- Check failure conditions. Observe what happens when you move, leave range, change targets, or release the key. Remove actions that misfire or become unsafe under those conditions.
- Retest after changes. Check the sequence again after relevant balance, animation, queue, or interface changes, and after changing character or setup.
The workshop suggests comparing a 60-second manual run with a macro run, but that is a proposed test method, not evidence that the macro improves damage. If you compare them, hold the target, build, and conditions as steady as possible, and weigh reliability and control alongside damage rather than assuming a gain.

Prefer the in-game feature and remain actively in control. NCSOFT’s January 28, 2026 anti-bot announcement said the minimum level for gathering was raised to level 45 “to further limit the use of automated gathering macros.” That statement concerns automated gathering; it does not define every permitted combat-macro pattern or guarantee that any combat macro is safe. A third-party policy guide updated September 19, 2026 says actively used skill-weaving macros are tolerated and distinguishes them from AFK macros, scripts, and unauthorized tools.
