Bethesda has announced a Fallout 76 map expansion toward the Capital Wasteland, arriving in 2027, but has not named an entry level, required quest, build, gear, or price. For now, keep the game updated and follow Bethesda’s official news rather than changing your character or stockpiling items for an unannounced requirement.
What is Raven Rock in Fallout 76?
Raven Rock is an announced map expansion extending Fallout 76 toward the Capital Wasteland in the game’s southeast. Bethesda’s September 30, 2026 directors’ letter says its story centers on “a cold war” between two derelict Enclave operators. The setting offers a view of the region almost 200 years before Fallout 3 and precedes the Lone Wanderer’s journey. Bethesda does not give an exact in-universe year. Bethesda’s announcement closes the section: “The Enclave will not rest until stability is restored.”

Keep Fallout 76 current and watch official updates
Install game updates for your platform and monitor Bethesda’s Fallout 76 news for announcements about access, release timing, and other player-facing details. Bethesda’s current platform listing includes Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Platform support for Raven Rock itself has not been detailed separately.
Keep playing only if you want to
You can continue with activities already in the live game, but there is no announced activity that serves as Raven Rock preparation. For example, Bethesda’s June 2026 notes describe Infestations as challenging encounters for experienced dwellers, recommend an Exploration Public Team when searching for them, and state that defeating the boss guarantees a four-star legendary weapon or armor piece. Those instructions apply to Infestations, not Raven Rock. See Bethesda’s update notes.

Skip speculative builds and stockpiles
The announcement does not require a particular character level, quest completion, faction reputation, weapon, armor set, stash quantity, or crafting supply. There is no official basis for grinding a specific build or collecting items in anticipation of Raven Rock. Prepare in ways that are useful to your normal play, but treat any Raven Rock-specific checklist circulating before Bethesda publishes requirements as speculation.
When is Raven Rock coming to Fallout 76?
Bethesda said Raven Rock is “Coming next year” in its September 30, 2026 letter, which points to 2027. The announcement gives no month, season, or launch day, so a more precise date is not confirmed.

Will Raven Rock be free?
Bethesda has not announced Raven Rock’s price in the cited announcement. Earlier updates such as Burning Springs were described as free, but that precedent does not establish Raven Rock’s pricing. Do not assume it is included at no extra cost or sold separately until Bethesda states the terms. The official Fallout 76 page provides game and purchase information; buying the base game should not be taken as confirmation of Raven Rock access.

- Exact launch date within 2027.
- Playable map boundaries or map size.
- Entry, quest, level, or faction prerequisites.
- Recommended character build or required equipment.
- Update download size, pricing, or Raven Rock-specific platform availability.
Wait for Bethesda to publish these specifics before making plans around them; the current announcement establishes the setting and story direction, not gameplay requirements.
