The Game Awards announced its 2024 nominees on November 18, 2024. ASTRO BOT and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth led the field with seven nominations each, including Game of the Year. Below is the full category-by-category list reported in the announcement coverage; the later fan-voted Players’ Voice ballot is noted separately because its complete nominee rounds are not reproduced here.
The ceremony was scheduled for December 12, 2024, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Gematsu reported that nominees were selected by a global jury of more than 130 media publications and influencer outlets, with a specialist jury for Innovation in Accessibility.
