PiBoSo’s Steam listing explicitly says there are no AI opponents and no career mode. If you want structured solo progression, that is the most important caveat; if you want to tune a bike, ride with other players, or explore user-created content, the listed feature set is more relevant.
What MX Bikes is—and its current status
MX Bikes is developed and published by PiBoSo for Windows and is sold through Steam. Steam lists October 7, 2019 as its release date and still presents it as an Early Access game. The store page says players who are not excited by the current version may prefer to wait; it does not give a full-release date.
PiBoSo describes the game as a realistic motocross simulator using a purpose-built physics engine for motorcycle dynamics and setup. Its Steam listing says, “The core features are already present, alongside several bikes and tracks,” and that “Modding is supported.” These are the developer’s descriptions of the product, not independent performance or realism test results.
What you can do in the game
Ride, tune, and respond to changing terrain
The feature list includes a tyre model, chassis flex, dynamic terrain deformation, wet terrain and weather, and selectable rider gestures. Bike setup is part of the simulation focus, rather than merely a cosmetic menu. PiBoSo also lists a plugin interface that can send real-time bike data to external programs, while Steam says online event data is used for rider-comparison statistics.

Race online or over a LAN
Steam lists online races, LAN racing, and a dedicated server. PiBoSo’s official overview also describes an integrated matchmaking server. These feature descriptions establish that the options exist, but do not establish current server population, latency, or how busy a particular event will be.
Customize and use community content
You can paint the bike, helmet, kit, boots, and gloves. The Steam listing says tools and documentation are available for advanced users to create and integrate tracks, bikes, helmets, protections, and other content. PiBoSo’s downloads page lists PaintEd, bike and rider templates, conversion and track tools, and plugin examples and interfaces. Specific mods, installation instructions, and compatibility can vary by content and game version; the official pages do not establish universal compatibility.

Does MX Bikes have a career mode or AI racers?
No. PiBoSo’s Steam description explicitly states: “Please note that there are neither AI nor a career mode.” The official feature set therefore does not promise offline races against computer-controlled opponents or a conventional progression campaign. Consider that limitation before buying if solo events, unlocks, or a guided career are central to what you want from a motocross game.
Windows system requirements
The two official pages publish different minimum RAM and graphics-memory figures. Treat them as published minimums, not a guarantee of smooth performance on a particular PC: neither source supplies a useful recommended performance tier or an FPS benchmark.

| Source | Operating system and processor | RAM | Graphics | Other listed requirements |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam listing | 64-bit processor and OS; Windows XP listed; 2 GHz CPU | 4 GB minimum | OpenGL 1.2.1-compatible GPU; 512 MB video RAM minimum | DirectX 8.1; 2 GB free storage |
| PiBoSo downloads page | 64-bit Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11; 2 GHz CPU | 2 GB minimum | OpenGL 1.2.1-compliant video card; 256 MB video memory minimum | DirectX 8.1 or newer libraries; graphics-driver update advised |
Because the figures conflict, do not assume the lower PiBoSo values are a dependable target for acceptable performance. Steam also notes that its client has supported only Windows 10 and later since January 1, 2024, so the game listing’s Windows XP minimum is not a guarantee that the current Steam client will run on XP. Steam’s recommended-requirements field gives only “Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system,” which is not enough to identify a suitable modern GPU or predict performance.
Controller and VR support
A gamepad is an option to explore, but setup may take adjustment: Steam Support’s MX Bikes page lists a community-created “Gamepad Setup Guide (Advanced).” That resource does not establish official support or tested compatibility for any specific controller model.

PiBoSo offers a beta download that works as a demo until a license key is entered. The developer warns that the beta may change significantly. Its downloads page also provides the listed tools and resources for supported content creation. Check that page for the current download and instructions rather than relying on old setup steps or assuming that a mod made for one version will work with another.

Who is MX Bikes for?
- A better fit: players drawn to motorcycle physics and setup, terrain that changes, online or LAN racing, VR options, and community-created content.
- A poor fit: players who expect AI opponents, a career campaign, or a clearly defined solo progression path.
- Worth checking first: players with older PCs, because the two official minimum-requirements pages disagree and neither provides a useful modern performance recommendation.
When comparing MX Bikes with another motocross game, focus on the differences that matter to your play style: simulation and setup depth, solo progression, multiplayer options, modding, control and VR support, and the quality of published PC requirements. The official feature descriptions alone do not establish how MX Bikes ranks against other games on those dimensions.
