In Belurat, Tower Settlement, the safest plan is to dodge its physical combos, punish its long recovery attacks, then adapt when it switches between lightning, frost, and wind. Summons can help draw its attention, but they are optional.
Where to find the Divine Beast Dancing Lion
This guide covers the Divine Beast Dancing Lion at the apex of Belurat, Tower Settlement, in Gravesite Plain—not another Dancing Lion encounter elsewhere in the expansion. Both Windows Central and GamesRadar+ place this boss at the top of Belurat.
What the Dancing Lion is weak to
Windows Central reports that the boss is weak to Fire and particularly susceptible to Bleed and Scarlet Rot. GamesRadar+ also lists Fire, piercing damage, Bleed, and Scarlet Rot as useful options. These are guide recommendations, not a complete numeric resistance table or a controlled comparison, so choose an available damage type rather than assuming one is a guaranteed best build.
Prepare before entering
- Consider returning later. Windows Central suggests collecting more Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes first; these improve the player’s and Spirit Ashes’ effectiveness in the DLC.
- Use an attention-drawing summon if useful. The NPC summon outside the door and Spirit Ashes can draw the boss’s attention. GamesRadar+ recommends taking advantage of an opening to attack from behind while Redmane Freyja or a Spirit Ash is targeted.
- Choose defense for the damage that is troubling you. Windows Central recommends the Pearldrake Talisman against the elemental mix, or a damage-specific talisman if one particular damage type is the problem.
How to handle the opening phase
At first, the Lion relies on physical attacks, including bite and slam strings, a lunging grab, smoke, and wind attacks. Prioritize reading each move and getting through the full sequence before committing to a punish.

Bites and slam combos
Roll through or to the side of the bite and slam strings. Once the sequence ends, use your position to retaliate; avoid starting a long attack while the combo is still underway.
Overhead crush and lunging grab
When the boss rises for a direct overhead crush, dodge laterally. Its recovery afterward can give you time for a charged heavy attack, spell, or strong skill. If it rears back and smacks its lips, expect the lunge-grab and dodge through or sideways rather than staying in its path.
Smoke and wind attacks
For the spinning smoke cloud, run away, jump, or roll through it. If the smoke comes in a straight stream, sidestep. In the wind-empowered sequence, roll the first two slams, then roll or jump the final circular smoke attack.
How to respond when it changes elements
At approximately half health, the Dancing Lion leaps into the air and starts using elemental power. The guides describe lightning, frost or ice, and wind. Watch which form is active and respond to the attack in front of you; the transition is not a single fixed sequence.
Recommended Free Tools
- Lightning: Move away from delayed strike zones. Lightning attacks can leave follow-up strike locations, so do not move back into a marked area as soon as the first strike lands.
- Frost and ice: Jump the wave of ice crystals. GamesRadar+ warns that ice can build Frostbite, so avoid repeatedly taking hits while trying to trade damage.
- Wind: Roll through gusts and, when it is safe, toward the boss. Treat wind projectiles and tornadoes carefully rather than assuming a straight retreat will clear every attack.
Solo play or summons?
Summons are an optional way to manage the boss’s attention, not a required strategy. If you enter alone, focus on dodging while the Lion is targeting you and attack during the recovery windows described above. With Redmane Freyja or a Spirit Ash drawing its attention, use the opening to attack from behind. This is tactical advice from the guides, not a tested ranking of solo and summon approaches.
Rewards
Windows Central reports the Remembrance of the Dancing Lion and Divine Beast Head. GamesRadar+ reports those rewards and 90,000 runes; that rune amount is GamesRadar+’s reported figure.
