Linking accounts does not combine progress from separate Epic accounts, so check which account has the progress you intend to keep before changing anything.
Before you link the accounts
Fortnite progress stays with the Epic Games account where it was earned. If Switch and Xbox currently have different progress because each is associated with a different Epic account, linking them will not merge those histories. Epic says its support team cannot merge accounts or progress.
- Choose the progress set you want to keep and identify the Epic Games account that holds it.
- Epic allows one Nintendo account and one Xbox account to be linked to a single Epic Games account at a time. The same Nintendo or Xbox account cannot be linked to multiple Epic accounts.
- A console account may already be connected to an Epic account that was automatically created when Fortnite was first launched. If you are unsure which account is connected, identify it through Epic’s support flow before attempting another link.
Link Nintendo Switch and Xbox to the same Epic account
- Sign in to Epic Games using the account that holds the Fortnite progress you want. You can sign in with your Epic account or use the relevant console sign-in option. Follow Epic’s instructions for linking a console account.
- Open your Epic account settings and select Linked accounts.
- Check the Nintendo and Xbox connections. Connect the Nintendo account used on Switch and the Xbox account used on Xbox to this same Epic Games account, following the prompts on screen.
- If either console is linked to a different Epic account, consult Epic’s current unlinking instructions before changing it. Verify which Epic account you are signed into and read the confirmation prompts before proceeding.
If the console is linked to the wrong Epic account
Unlinking changes which Epic Games account the console accesses; it does not move Fortnite progress to another account. Epic warns that unlinking may remove access to data stored on the Epic account, and changing a console link may be subject to a platform restriction. Check Epic’s current instructions and prompts for the account you are changing before confirming.
If the console account is already linked elsewhere, or you cannot tell which Epic account it uses, identify the existing account through Epic’s support flow rather than repeatedly trying to link it. Avoid confirming a change until you have verified that the destination Epic account holds the progress you want.

What carries across platforms—and what does not
When supported platform accounts use the same Epic Games account, Fortnite progress and purchases are accessible across those platforms. V-Bucks are an exception to Epic’s general cross-platform statement, so do not assume that every V-Bucks balance transfers identically.
Epic does not offer a way to merge two Epic Games accounts. Its support guidance says V-Bucks, Epic Games Store purchases, in-game items or cosmetics, and friends lists cannot be transferred between accounts. If items or progress are on separate Epic accounts, linking the consoles will not consolidate them.
