A digital comic disappearing from your library does not automatically mean you get a refund. Check the storefront, purchase type, reason for the loss and local rules.

Possibly, but a missing digital comic does not automatically qualify for a refund. The answer depends on where you bought it, whether it was a purchase or subscription access, why it disappeared, how long ago you bought it, and your country. Google Play’s terms explicitly allow for a possible replacement or full or partial refund in certain removal cases. Apple’s published guidance covers refund requests and delivery problems, but does not promise a refund whenever a title is later removed. The current Amazon material cited here does not establish a comic-specific remedy for catalog removal.

First work out why the comic is missing

A comic disappearing from a library can indicate a catalog or rights change, but it can also be a library-view, account, sync, or app problem. Check the purchase receipt and the account that received it before treating the title as withdrawn. Also establish whether you bought the individual comic, rented it, or accessed it through a subscription: those are not necessarily the same kind of entitlement.

  • Check other library filters, devices, and accounts associated with the storefront.
  • Use the receipt to identify the actual seller and purchase channel; a comic opened in an app may have been purchased through a different store.
  • Look for an error message or notice explaining that the title is no longer available.

What the platform policies say

Google Play Books

Google Play’s Terms of Service say Google may remove content or stop providing access in certain circumstances, including loss of relevant rights, discontinuation of a service or content, critical security issues, or a legal or terms breach. If a customer cannot download a copy before removal or cessation, the terms say Google may offer a replacement if possible or a full or partial refund. “May” matters: this is a possible remedy, not a guarantee of payment or replacement. Google Play Terms of Service.

Google Play Books’ help page says an ebook refund request may be made within seven days of purchase, and that a request for an ebook that does not work may be made within 65 days. Those windows are for purchases through the Play Books app or the Books tab of Google Play Store; they should not be assumed to cover every comic storefront or every later catalog removal. Google also says an approved ebook refund may remove the ebook from the library, so a refund and restored access are different outcomes. Google Play Books refund policies.

Apple

Apple provides a refund-request process at reportaproblem.apple.com. Its support guidance also notes that digital goods and services may not be purchased through Apple in some countries and regions, and that applicable consumer-law protections remain in place where they apply. Apple Support refund guidance.

Apple’s North American Media Services terms say that when technical problems prevent or unreasonably delay delivery of content, the remedy is replacement or a refund, as determined by Apple. That passage concerns delivery problems; it is not a blanket promise for a title removed from a catalog later, nor should it be applied to every region. Apple Media Services terms.

Amazon Kindle and comiXology

Amazon’s Kindle and Fire Tablet terms identify the Kindle Store Terms of Use as applicable terms, but the material cited here does not establish a current policy specifically promising a refund or replacement when a previously purchased Kindle or comiXology comic disappears because of rights or catalog changes. Check your Amazon account’s content management options and contact Amazon support; do not assume Google’s or Apple’s stated remedies apply. Kindle E-Reader and Fire Tablet Terms.

Which details change the answer?

What to establish Why it matters
Purchase, rental, or subscription access A paid individual comic is different from a title available only while a rental or subscription remains active.
Cause of the loss A technical or account issue may call for restoring access; a rights or catalog removal may be governed by different terms.
Time since purchase Some refund request windows are tied to purchase date. Google Play Books lists windows for certain ebook requests; they are not a universal comic rule.
Download or replacement availability Google Play’s terms make inability to download a copy before removal relevant to the possible remedy.
Country and purchase channel Platform guidance and applicable consumer protections can vary by location, and an in-app purchase may have been processed by a different storefront.

Google’s general refund guidance says policy depends on what was bought, when and how it was paid for, and where the buyer is located. It directs customers in the EEA and UK to regional information for qualifying purchases. Learn about Google Play refund policies. Apple likewise notes that country or region can affect how purchases are made and that local consumer-law protections may apply. A rule described for one region should not be treated as a universal entitlement.

What to send customer support

  1. Confirm the seller and account. Check the receipt for the storefront and sign in to the account used to buy or access the comic.
  2. Record the transaction and title. Note the comic’s title, edition or volume, purchase date, order number, and whether it was bought outright, rented, or accessed through a subscription.
  3. Document the problem. Save screenshots of the missing listing or error and any notice that the title was withdrawn.
  4. Ask for a specific remedy. Ask whether access can be restored or a replacement edition is available; if neither is possible, ask whether a refund can be considered.
  5. Escalate with the relevant terms and location. If the first reply does not address the issue, point support to the storefront’s current terms and check the consumer-law rules for your country. A policy from another country may not apply.
