The reliable route is to collect the cottage and mountain items, turn a branch and line into a fishing rod, pull an inflator from the river, inflate the soccer ball to reveal a space helmet, then use the witch, cow, key, and helmet to build a star bridge. This guide gives the complete reunion route and explains a player-reported alternate ending.
What is A Couple of Milky Way?
The title appears in two forms: A Couple of Milky Way and The Two of Milky Way. Historical game listings identify both as a Minoto item-based adventure made from connected screens. You solve it by picking up objects, combining selected items, placing them in the environment, and clicking characters in a particular order.

Bart Bonte’s July 7, 2008 archive lists “the two of milky way” as a new Minoto game and points to the original mac.rash.jp page. The walkthrough route below comes from historical English and Japanese guides rather than a newly verified play session. Translated guides use slightly different labels: “inflator” may appear as an inflation tool, and the cleaning item may be called a broom or cleaning tool.

Before you start: the two endings and the key trigger

If you want the standard reunion scene, do not click the small bird for its decisive action until the helmet is in its possession. The alternate behavior is best treated as a reported hint, not a separately documented official ending.
Complete walkthrough: collect the first items
1. Search the cottage screen
- At the cottage, click the stick and add it to your inventory.
- Lift the flowerpot. Take the small key hidden underneath it.
Keep both items. The stick is used with the witch later, while the key eventually opens the birdcage.
2. Visit the bird-and-mountain view
- Move to the screen showing the large bird and mountain.
- Take the large mushroom.
- Take the grass.
These objects are used at different points. The mushroom changes the cottage scene; the grass is saved for the cow.

3. Use the mushroom to bring out the witch
- Return to the cottage view.
- Place the mushroom in the spot beside the house.
- Click the cottage door. The witch comes out.
- Click the door again so the witch brings out a trash bag.
- Take the trash bag.
The second door click matters. If you leave after the first appearance, the bag will not yet be available.
4. Update the grass patch and collect the mulberry
- Go to the grass-patch view.
- Leave and return after the scene updates.
- Take the mulberry.
A player comment says the mulberry only works after the trash has been placed in the garbage. That sequence is consistent with the main walkthroughs, so do not try to feed the bird before completing the trash step.
Make the fishing rod and reveal the space helmet
5. Put the trash in the bin and distract the bird
- Move to the view with the trash can and bird.
- Put the trash bag into the bin.
- Give the mulberry to the bird.
- Click the bird when it reaches the trash area.
The bird’s movement exposes the next interaction. If nothing happens, verify that the garbage was placed first and that the mulberry was given from the inventory rather than merely clicked near the bird.

6. Let the broom holder clean up
- Click the person holding a broom so they clean the mess.
- Take the fishing line left behind.
- Take the cleaning tool or broom.
Different translations name this second item differently, but it is the broom-like object required by the witch later.
7. Combine the branch and fishing line
- Take the branch sticking out of the ground.
- Combine the branch with the fishing line in the inventory.
- The result is a fishing rod.
This is the game’s first explicit item combination. If the combination does not trigger, make sure you selected the branch rather than another piece of scenery and that the fishing line was collected from the cleaned area.
8. Fish the inflator from the river
- Go to the river.
- Use the fishing rod on the river.
- Collect the inflator.
Some guides call this object an inflation tool. It is the same item and is used on the soccer ball in the next step.

9. Inflate the soccer ball
- Use the inflator on the soccer ball.
- The ball bursts.
- Take the space helmet revealed inside.
The helmet is not optional on the reunion route. It enables the small bird to perform the star-bridge action.
Use the witch, cow, and key to free the small bird
10. Give the witch the stick and broom
- Return to the cottage screen.
- Give the stick to the witch.
- Move to the neighboring view.
- Click the witch so a cage appears.
- Give the witch the broom or cleaning tool.
The order is important: the stick starts the witch’s next event, and the broom then causes her to fly away and return with the small bird.
11. Bring in the large bird and cow
- When the witch returns with the small bird, click the small bird.
- Click the large bird on the mountain.
- Click the large bird again.
- A cow is brought into the scene.
The second click on the large bird is easy to miss. The cow is the character that can knock over the cottage, which is necessary before the cage can be opened.

12. Feed the cow and open the cage
- Give the cow the grass collected near the mountain.
- The cow knocks over the cottage.
- Use the small key on the birdcage.
- The small bird is released.
The key from beneath the flowerpot has no earlier use. If the cage cannot be opened, confirm that the cow has eaten the grass and that the cottage has visibly fallen over.

13. Equip the small bird with the helmet
- Give the space helmet to the released small bird.
- Click the small bird.
- Go to the river and click the bird again.
The bird collects stars at the river and forms a bridge. This is the decisive reunion sequence. Clicking the bird before giving it the helmet is the action associated with the alternate player-reported outcome, so postpone that click if you want the main ending.
14. Move the characters onto the bridge
- Click each separated character when the bridge is available.
- They move onto the star bridge.
- The characters cross and reunite.
Once the bridge has formed, the remaining clicks are straightforward. If a character does not move, click the character itself rather than the bridge or background.

Hints for the most common stuck points
- The mulberry does nothing: Put the trash in the garbage first, then return to the bird sequence.
- The fishing rod will not appear: You need both the branch and fishing line; combine them in the inventory.
- The river has no useful item: The fishing rod must be completed before fishing. The reward is the inflator.
- The helmet is missing: Use the inflator on the soccer ball; the ball bursts and reveals it.
- The witch will not bring the bird: Give her the stick, trigger the cage scene in the neighboring view, and then give her the broom.
- The cow does not knock over the cottage: Give the cow the grass from the bird-and-mountain screen.
- The cage will not open: Use the small key found beneath the flowerpot, but only after the cow has toppled the cottage.
- The star bridge does not form: Give the helmet to the small bird before clicking it, then click the bird again at the river.

What is known about the game today?
The historical listing confirms a July 2008 Minoto release and its original destination, but the available material does not establish whether that page still runs, whether modern browsers support it, whether a mobile version exists, or whether an officially preserved edition is available. Treat any present-day access claim as unverified unless you can confirm it independently.
The walkthroughs also differ in translated item names and screen descriptions. Focus on the function and dependency of each object rather than an exact English label. The route itself is consistent across the historical guides: fishing rod, inflator, helmet, broom-assisted bird rescue, cow and grass, key, and star bridge.
